I found that trick works very well for a 901, it is very like a manual switch.

Aye I know, but I prefer to use the automatic because I just hold the Janty in my teeth.

So far my 901 is giving me a very decent throat hit. Which is awesome.

I went on a trip recently and didn't have the free time to just vap away. I had to pick my opportunities when I could vap. Seems if I am able to have longer times to vap, the throat hit is good, but not as important. I had a few time during my trip, I found myself with a battery that wasn't fully charged and just a few hits didn't give me the satisfaction I could get from the analog burning cig, that was disappointing.

additives in juice (such as pepper)
is there something we could add for a better throat hit?
pepper...hmmm...a drop of tabasco in a 10ml bottle maybe?

I don't know about inhaling tabasco, I've not heard of it being done. I'd be careful that there weren't any colourings or other additives that might cause problems.

There is a poll here which shows that most people think the most important thing for throat hit is a good power source and atomiser - Throat hit

According to the poll, additives and nicotine are not regarded as important as hardware.

I did the same thing with a piece of tape, I covered about 1/3 of the hole permanently and it works great. Still on my original atomizer too so it can't be too harmful

The reason I think the atomizer/power source combination has quite a bit to do with throat hit is because just before one of my atomizers went out, something happened to it. It was a mediocre performer prior to this event, but then for about three puffs, it turned psycho on me. It was producing thick white billowing clouds of vapor, and the throat hit was more akin to a throat atom bomb...it seriously hurt. Then, after that, the atomizer was dead... no heat, no glowing red, no nothing.

Upon examining it later, I found that the coil had become detached on one side. I don't know how that caused what I experienced, but there you have it.

according to Alan Carr, the world famous quit smoking guru who wrote "easy way to stop smoking" (a fantastic book on the psychology of smoking) the throat hit that we all love is actually mild suffocation! its the split second that the smoke (or vapour) blocks your airway in your throat..............makes perfect sense to me.

RIP alan carr (after quitting a 100 a day habit 40 years ago he sadly died of lung cancer)
