    oh cool pet tip thread!!

for flies we use one of those bottle tops for flies (tractor supply) and make our own fly juice:

left over mackeral juice from canned mackeral for the dogs. Mix with syrup or honey and a little vinegar - add ingredients and water to 1/2 gal milk jug about 1/2 full and hang about 4 ft from a tree limb or fence. Give it a week and you'll be amazed Have to ditch the jug and make a new one it will get so full... and gross as hell lol.

for mosquitoes, get some catnip in the bag for a couple $$ at TS. Mix with water in a small spray bottle. Smells like the stinkiest feet you've ever encountered, but it works very well. 10x stronger than deet and safe.

spray your dogs for those late night walks, or yourself. You can also spray it on doors and screens.

Fleas weren't too bad for us this year. Ticks, however, were another matter entirely!

to kill fleas on your pet give a bath with dawn dish soap. leave on 5 min's rinse, a vet told me about it and it works like a charm,

for fleas in the house spray every thing with a half and half mix of pine sol, kills them on contact, and repels new ones,

I love the idea of a pet/household tip thread. Hopefully, need_2quit does not mind. Or we could start a new one.

Avon Skin-so-Soft (origional formula) spray bath oil still works good for mosquitoes too. With that catnip..Do stray cats follow you home? (Just kidding.)

we had a bad infestation this year. did some research and found 2 things.
first was get some salt (table salt) grind it fine in your blender then sprinkle on carpets leave down for 3 days and vaccume and reapply this actually dries the fleas out.

then we put down diatamacious earth (sp) we got it at the local feed store. it is tiny shells that dry fleas out and cut them so they die. a flea cycle can last up to 12 weeks so it is good to apply vacume up after a few weeks then reapply. with the pets we have flea bathed them i have 3 dogs 2 cats. the cats got the worst of it this year. theyseem to be healing but i refuse to use capstar again on my pets. did it last year made both my cats ill and my dogs were sick as well. it is a high chemical that u are putting in their bodies. i can't use the one spot treatment on my cats as it makes them sick. hence the reason i went for all natural. the DE can be used in your yards in yuor house and on your pets. we have done the tide in the back yard and the dawn on the animals..works for a bit but the fleas come back the DE will actually kill the new cycle coming back. oh also DE will kill roaches fleas ticks skeeters ants. anything...really nice product. i paid 35 for a 40lb bag. hope this helps someone

skin so soft can actually be a poison to cats because it has aloe in it. aloe is very toxic to cats

Off Topic - My dog does not like the vapor. Anytime I vape he goes to a different room and lays down, or he will go all the way to the other side of the house. Has anyone else experienced this?

And helpful tip for fleas, if you put garlic powder in your dogs food daily it eliminates flees. I was told by a dog trainer and Ive been doing it and have never got fleas. We go to the dog park once a week.

i don't mind at all. mods feel free to move it somewhere else.

no cats following us, which I fully expected. my husband sprays catnip on himself when he goes into the garden too. I've recommended catnip to friends with ponds out in the country and it works like a charm for them too.

    fda=ticks good one lol

if you use DE, be sure to google it. There are some precautions, like don't buy it at a pool supply place, because of the chemicals. Anything used in our yard gets washed away by rain, so it's impractical for us.

For roaches where the pets can't lick it, DE is great.

capstar is very potent, so I can see where it can cause toxicity problems for some dogs. we used comfortis for 2 months last year when fleas were horrendous to clean them out.

That's why we try to go natural as possible. We even make our own dog food and treats here and are involved in rescue. protecting them is all important to us. I continually have to do a bottle, cart, e-cig count if I have the bottles out on my nightstand. If one is missing, I'm on it within seconds haha.

I bought a 6pk of advantage at the beginning of the summer and kept waiting and waiting for the fleas to show up before i'd put it on them. Took till now.

I'm going to do a little low nic I think in my juice and continue to pet them after I wipe my hands. I keep a wet washcloth handy when vaping, because I'm always making a mess topping off. After a washcloth swipe, I'll pet the dogs.

    flea meds are too toxic.
