Default Anyone using less Flea Meds since vaping?

My 3 dogs haven't needed Advantage all summer since vaping. I know nicotine is used as a pesticide and flea killer.

Since most of the vapor goes out of our mouths, I was thinking the dogs haven't needed the preventative from the nic in the air.

I've cut down the nic to next to nothing the past 2 weeks and viola, one of my dogs has fleas

anyone else? if vaping cures fleas, it's cheaper to vape nic once in a while than to buy flea meds at $12. a pop per dog monthly

    got me curious anyway.

hahahahah...interesting... I my-self have 3 dogs, whom also suffer from fleas. I can predict that this solution to fleas will get PETCO on the FDA's side .... but really, dont smoke em out too much, it may be the case that nicotine inhalation in dogs could lead to worse problems than itchy fleas...

In my area the fleas where so bad last year that almost everyone on my block treated their yards, and treated 1xs this year to stop them from getting bad. So none of my animals have any fleas this summer, dont think it has anything to do with vaping.

lol oh damn I was hoping for a gentle flea cure from vaping. I know analogs never prevented fleas

if you are infested with fleas, the only cure I know is Capstar pills to kill them on the animal. They work in about 20 mins and kill them all dead as a door nail.

Comfortis is a 30 day pill made by the same company. It works very well. I had to give one of my dogs 1/2 a Comfortis and the other 1/2 the next day, b/c nausea is a side effect. After the 2nd month there was no nausea.

You can bomb your house, etc, but the only way to keep them out is to treat the dog or cat. The ones in the house will find their way to the dog and die. About 2 wks later your house will be clean.

Interesting on vaping though. I used to vape 36mg and after 4 months I can take nic or leave it. The only time I reach for nic juice is when I crave an analog. The past few weeks I haven't craved one at all, and I'm vaping less.

Then this morning as soon as I opened my eyes, I wanted a damn analog! Told me it was time to break out some nic drops.

i was just thinking, i pet them alot with juice hands. I wash my hands often, but these guys stick to us like glue so it's impossible to not touch them with some juice hands.

god only knows what's in the Advantage flea meds, so maybe a little juice every now and then is what did it? ON their fur, so nothing really to absorb into their skin. Maybe just enough to keep the fleas away?

My cats are indoor cats so thank goodness I only have to worry about fleas if I bring in a new rescue, which thankfully I haven't had to do in a year or so. I have been told by quite a few people that chewing tobacco will kill ear mites. Don't know if it works or not but people swear by it. A couple years ago we were infested, my cats and house were full of the nasty creatures. The Raid flea and tick killer in the purple can took care of them real quick. It kills the fleas and the eggs. I never even had to treat my cats. Just kept spraying the carpets and their "nesting" places and before long--all gone!

I have 3 dogs... two Shepherds among them. And since I started faithfully applying Frontline TopSpot a few years ago, I have not had a flea problem at all. I buy it online, though, where it is less expensive. And I get the liquid Ivermectin at the vet supply to use for heartworm... a great tip from my breeder.
I doubt seriously that I am exhaling any more nicotine that I was when I smoked analogs, and frankly, I would worry if I did.

I'm using more Frontline. But not on my pets. I'm using 3 drops of it once a week in some canned catfood (mixed well) then placed in an old bird cage and hung outside. We have an ungodly meat bee (yellow jacket) infestation this year. Couldn't even enjoy being outside without being attacked until I started using it about a month ago. Found the idea online. Seems that honey bee farmers use it to kill the meat bees because they attack the hives, kill the bees and eat the honey.

Odd, but we have'nt had a bad infestation this year. Ticks are usurally the worst spring and summer. I mostly try to use Sergeant's Nature's Guardian on the animals. It's all natural and smells like clove oil. Seems to work most of the time. One of my cats did have a reaction to it though and had some hair loss. Guess she was just allergic to one or more of the ingredients. Once in awhile I will use a few drops of Frontline on the Rotti, when I see a tick, because we have deer in our yard alot. But never the whole dose they reccomend. The whole dose is overkill I think.
