    Default new user update

    hopefully, if anyone reads this they'll appreciate the twist. due to economic circumstances i can only afford to use my 510 to get my nicotine. due to this unforeseen situation i've become quite intimate with my pv so i thought i'd share this experience with other noobs.

    i agree with others on this forum like jim davis who say when it comes down to a pv, its all about preference. i also agree that there is a learning curve when first starting to vape. the preference thing not only relates to pv's, it also pertains to juice as well.

    the 510 is a good pick for a newcomer, especially someone who was a heavy smoker. if you've read the various posts concerning the device then the reasons are obvious: lots of vapor and good thoat hit. but, don't expect consistent vapor production and throat hit all the time, it's not going to happen.

    i now think of the 510 as an entry model into the realm of pv's. if it had been introduced early last year, i would think it would have been considered a rolls royce. but with mods like the gg, js v2, silver bullet, sd, et al now established in the market place, the 510, especially for the former heavy smoker, becomes the noob training apparatus.

    the 510, and maybe other devices like the 901 and such, is just too inconsistent for me to completely break away from analogs. another factor is that the nicotine load even in 36 mg liquid is not cutting it in terms of what i apparently need. having mentioned this i have to say, thus far, the best liquid i have used is the 16 mg (18?) menthol i purchased from eric at vapor station. i think it fair to mention this only because suppliers have various sources for juice and i've discovered there are many differences in terms of taste, volume and nic satisfaction just to name three things to consider.

    but, vs's liquid doesn't cut it with me because the nic content is far too low. for the heavy smoker (at least for me), i think something in the 40s (mg) may do the trick. will check this out once i have the dineros. along these lines, i don't like sucking on my pv all the time. i didn't do it with cigarettes, i don't want to do it with a pv. while i have a passthru (there's no other way of saying this, it sucks), being tethered to a computer most of the day is not my idea of a quality of life enhancement.

    so, while i'll eventually purchase a few of the new 510 batteries, i've also decided that an upgrade in pv's is in order (perhaps a 5v). but, i don't necessarily want to collect pv's, i merely require a consistent nic delivery system that is satisfying. this would also mean buying an iolite for home use if all else fails (especially if pv's are pretty much banned).

    bottom line, i'm grateful i've something to get my nicotine with but am somewhat frustrated by the lack of consistency. i'm constantly using the pv and still feel i'm not getting enough nicotine, feeling almost like i'm constantly going through withdrawal only not as intense like when quitting cold-turkey. funny thing is, when i smoke a cigarette now they don't taste the same, or feel the same as they use to. in fact, i'd say cigarettes no longer satisfy me. what's a noob to do?

    I was a pack and a half smoker for 25+ years. I find the 24mg stuff to be just right for me. In fact, if I'm chain vaping something tasty (like this cappucino... mmmmm...) I could even cut back to 18 or less.

    My 510 seems to work wonderfully, I'm even liking it better than my Janty Stick v2 as far as taste and vapor production.

    Nice story;
    Now that you've been introduced to vaping, and know how to use a PV, you've decided to move up. If this works for you, it's great news.

    Now would be the time to start researching the heavy duty mods. Research carefully, separate fact from opinion, and you'll be on your way.

    Good luck;
    jd

    I get more flavor on some juices from the 510 vs. the JS, and visa versa. Decadent Vapours' non sweet Habana Reserve, Absinthe, Black Currant all taste better on the 510 over the JS. The fruit flavors taste better on the JS, a cooler vape. So I'm thinking those that like the sweet fruity flavors are getting better flavor on the autos, and losing that when they try those same fruity flavors on the 510.

    On vapor production: While the 510 can put it out, the JS is an even bigger cloud with mine.

    hey all. thanks so much for the replies. if i've learned anything about vaping, it's that individual experiences with devices and efluid are not necessarily the same. for example, i was surprised that i would find some of the tobacco flavors to be as good as they are, likewise the various coffee flavors. there are those, however, who would disagree. the same can be said about the 510, or any model.

    and a special shout out to jim davis, who i've always found to be a great moderator and source of information and encouragement. the ecf is a freekin great place to get info and perspective on vaping. when i'm ready, hopefully soon, i also intend on dwelling deeper into the mod forums and take a stab at building my own. no doubt some of the mods are far cheaper than the commercial ones. just a great resource. thanks again all.

    Default Hi there, sorry to derail but..

    Hi,

    I am a newbie (both to e cigs and this forum) and I was really hoping to be able to have a blog space here of my DIY adventures (so that I could bounce my ideas off of others and kind of have them check what I'm doing as I go, a place to record my efforts) but then I found I can't make a blog yet, so I went to make a thread in the DIY thread with this, but I found I can't make a thread there, so I read a statement that says I need to make a few posts but can only post in the newbie section, came to the newbie section but the sort of 'introduce yourself' thread is marked closed so just... to find a place I CAN post this was it so here I am and I'm REALLY needing to just record my efforts and have responses of others (and ideally without having to clot up somebody else's thread exactly like this I am having to do here)

    so.. at once here's a hello and sorry about this introductory post being what and where it is (not exactly a great way to start off I suppose, but kinda had no choice)

    thanks

    (PS, does anybody know how many posts I have to make before I can start chronicalling my effors in my own blog here? I am all set to make my first DIY move tonight... mainly involving soaking small amounts of tobacco in three different substances, vegetable glycerin, everclear and distilled water, what quantities, exactly how I'm doing this and why, etc)

    I just have this huge need to record what I'm doing for my own purposes first and then incase anybody needs to step up and say something like "hey stupid, stop, that'll get you killed' or whatever (or if I need to know if its okay for example to lid and fridge my three efforts, etc), because I'll be the first to admit I'm not the brightest bulb on the block when it comes to this stuff (I'm ignorant yes, but not stupid, there's a huge difference) and I have a healthy respect and fear for this, but I really for many reasons have a need to try to insert tobacco/tobacco flavoring using the real deal.

    Anyway,

    Thanks and sorry again (this wouldn't be so huge or wouldnt' be so bad if it was huge if it was in my little separate blog section), sorry OP, admins etc (but can I please have that little space?)

    Also I am hugely impressed with a number of people here (been reading a while before deciding to register etc and try this very simple basic DIY notion that I have which has been partially inspired by some of the ingenious stuff/ideas I've seen here)
