    I love my USB passthrough for the joy510 I have... it's lasted longer than a battery thus far... how long is the est. shelf life though?

    There's really no reason for it to fail. The battery is not proprietary. Someone said you can buy them at dealextreme for a few bucks. About the only thing that could go wrong is someone screwed up the usb plug or damaged the button.

    I have had 2 of them. first one lasted 3 days. The second one lasted a month. both had button failures. So I modded them:-)

    Why does a passthrough need a battery?

    I though the whole idea of a passthrough was to avoid batteries.

    I mean it's like buying a mains shaver and then seeing mains shaver batteries for sale?

    Totally confusing.
