    Default Taste

I've not smoked for a few days now, so I presume my sense of taste has resumed. Is it just me, or do all these flavours taste the same? I'm not really complaining - they could taste like crap and still taste better than a proper cigarette - but really, I'm getting virtually no difference. Some flavours seem to go sour (especially the fruit ones.) The "tobacco" flavours don't taste anything remotely like tobacco, but do tend to taste "less bad". Am I missing something, or is this just an emperor's new clothes thing?

Sure, they do smell different, and there is a slight hint of "whatever it says on the bottle" above the PG or glycol taste, but.... yeah, "caramelized glycol" or "nightclub smell" would probably be a more accurate description.

I've been e-smoking now for about 6 weeks, and have now almost completely stopped smoking tobacco (maybe have one or two a day but can do without). My sense of taste and smell is definitely changing.

I can certainly tell the difference between flavours now. Heres a few I can comment on off the top of my head..

Ruyan "bling" cartridges - most tobacco like flavour I've got, reasonably close to a sort of cigar tobacco.
Apple cartridges supplied with my pen style kit - very strong apple flavouring.
Totally Wicked Marlboro - at first this just tasted like tobacco smoke of some kind. Now I am getting very definite nutty flavours from it.
E-cigs.co.uk Minty Menthol - Very very minty.
Johnson Creek Vanilla Ice Cream - Does indeed taste like vanilla ice cream, very nice.

Others I do struggle to taste still, like Johnson Creek Wild Cherry - to me just has a faint background taste of cherryade, and has that sharpness you mention, I think it needs more flavour. None of the "regular" cartridges I've got supplied with starter kits taste much like real tobacco though.

    Nightclub Smell? lol
They dont call them Mini Fog Machines for the Fun of it
The taste is a little odd over all, but I sure can not say they are all the same.
I am still looking for a Real Good Tobacco Flavor, I am not sure one exsists. Yet.
Other flavors do taste different, but they do have a taste. I have a feeling they use more Sent, then Flavoring, that would be the problem if so.

Some atomisers keep flavour better than others. Blings give good flavour, my DSE901 is bland, etc.

Agreed. Also, strong flavours can leave a residual taste in atomisers for quite some time after you change to a different liquid.

Using clean (i.e. washed) cartridges or direct dripping helps bring out the flavour.

Let me answer your observation this way, from my experience: You are correct.

Flavors tend to be extremely wimpy, so light as to be almost non-existant. They do differ, and I strongly prefer RY4 above everything I've tried. But when I want vanilla, I REALLY want vanilla. I do not want a hint of vanilla, or a slight aftertaste of vanilla. So I make my own and kick flavors to High Heaven.

I think because taste is such a subjective variable, manufacturers purposely short them to avoid turning off someone who might say "It's too sweet."

Find a flavor you like as a base. Then add Bickford or LorAnn flavors to it. "Coffee" doesn't taste like coffee, but you can jolly well make it taste like espresso if you want!

However, what I want and what I can't get is TOBACCO smoke flavor.

After 4 months of being cig free, Im over the taste of tobacco. I associate my ecig with Teas, not with tobaccos. Burnt leaves. I'm over that. Buuut, I did buy myself some coca leaves recently... Intention was to suck on them while vaping.... Maaaybe that would be a pleasant vape itself though huh.

Bribri, I'd bet my declining 401K that the first manufacturer who offers a true tobacco smoke flavor that has real hit and taste will command the market from that date forward.
