Exclamation preference between manual and automatic batteries?

I've only been vaping since monday (510 from happyvaper.com! woo!) but I'm starting to think I like the automatic batteries more, even though I can see the practicality of the manual. I made sure to get both with my kit so I could test the difference.

I understand how the manual batteries are better, I do! but I like being able to just hang the e-cig out of my mouth and just puff away without thinking much about it. ...great for working at the computer.

if you have a manual you prefer, did you get used to it because you know it's a better system or did you just take to it right away?

Auto is more like smoking, hands free.
Manual is a better hit, less sucking.
Both have their place, just need to be well charged.

Hi, I'm also new to vaping -- tomorrow will be 2 weeks for me. I ordered a 901 kit that came with automatic batteries; I ordered manual batteries a few days later.

I actually enjoy both, but I think I prefer the manual just a little bit more. It seems to produce better vapor and a stronger throat hit and doesn't require the primer puffs. Plus it has a longer cut-off time than my automatics have. But I rarely drag long enough on either for the cut-off to activate, so that doesn't really matter that much to me.

I still use my automatics and really like them as well. I discovered through trial and error that if I do 3 or 4 quick primer puffs, the vapor and throat hit are very close to what the manual battery produces. Plus my automatic batteries seem to last a little longer than the manual ones do.

So I think it's really user preference.

I just ordered a USB passthrough; it will be interesting to compare that to the batteries.

Just like a mechanic, you use different tools depending on the job!

It takes a second or two for the atomizer to get hot enough to vaporize the liquid. With an auto battery, the first second or two that you are drawing, you're just getting air and not much vapor until the atomizer kicks in. As you said, they are great when you need your hands free to do something else.

With a manual, you can activate the atomizer for a second or two before you begin you draw. This will result in instant vapor from the get-go, produce warmer vapor, and let you get a little more throat hit. If I'm stressed out or had a bad day and am kicked back in my recliner, or doing a little drinking with friends, the manual is my weapon of choice.

I keep them both on hand, and use the appropriate tool for the job!

awesome. you know, I didn't really think about it like that before. you know, having different uses for the different batteries. and it didn't even occur to me that the manual batteries didn't have a cut-off! I was just kind of stopping after the five-second mark, but now I'm taking big 'ol drags and it's great! melon!

I like to have an auto at the computer but the manual gets better flavor and vapor and the battery lasts longer... but the 510 auto is much better than the 4081 black super that I had. The timing on the 510 auto for cutoff seems non-existent whereas the 4081 cutoff can stop a good vape before you get going. But one caution - especially if you're used to dripping with the manual 510, you can't drip on the atty with the auto, the way you do on the manual - no sealed batt on the auto and you will kill it by dripping (or even overfilling the cart) - which I did just this weekend on one auto batt - the first battery that I've lost in three months. I'll still use the auto but with care.

If you want to try auto - get a 510 auto. It seems like the only difference in performance is that you can't drip. It has no evident cutoff and hence no 'waiting period' before you can continue to vape.

I like both for different reasons

The auto I use when I need a hands free vape - getting ready in the morning, making dinner etc etc

The manual I much prefer the hit as I need longer than 3 secs to satisfy me so I really end up vaping the auto more in an attempt to get a better vape

My manual battery lasts longer and gives a FAR superior vape but the auto has its uses

At my PC, sat watching TV, driving etc I use a USB passthru and wish I could get an auto passthru but can only get a manual one.

I got both manual and automatic batteries for my 510. I didn't know that dripping in the automatic was worse than with the manuals. I just figured they all had the same risks of overflowing or dying.

good to know!

When I'm doing anything that requires 2 hands I want my auto batteries. If I have a situation where I have a free hand my JS or Laser Pointer mod come out (My CALM - Cisco Advanced Laser Mod).
