Default **510 throat burn - any advice?**

    Hey All,

Into my second day of vaping on my new 510, I keep switching back to grabbing a Kool out of the box and lighting up - 30 years habits aren't so easy to break.

I've tried adding menthol to the tobacco juice, it didn't cut it. Now I've been taking the empty carts and just filling them with menthol e-liquid.

Either way I get an unpleasant throat burn, strange because you would think after all my years of smoking I could gargle with razor blades and not feel a thing.

The unit, which I have hooked up by USB passthru runs hot very quickly. I few long draws and the atomizer is hot to the touch..is this normal?

There's also a faint burning smell, I had thought the poly fill was burning but pulled the cart off and it's just fine, added a few drops of menthol juice, but the burn remains. Any thoughts on this you guys?

The primer is very harsh and it sometimes takes a couple of days to burn off depending on how much you vape. With me it burned at first too. Are you drawing into the mouth and then inhaling or drawing directly to the lungs? I found drawing into the mouth and then inhaling got rid of the burn for me.

510 attty do run very warm. burning smell sounds like cart running dry and not enough juice getting to the atty. Ive noticed burning in throat especially when running low batteries. It tkaes sometimes a day or 2 to break in attys. Some not that long.
Give it a few more days. I think things will work out.

I am new to this site today and wondering if you could offer some advice as to which ecig would be the best to start off with?
I would truly appreciate any advice you could give.

Moonflame - Thanks for the response, I've tried it both ways. A mouth full of vapor and then inhaling but I'm more inclined to draw directly into my lungs, which produces a better hit, more vapor and flavor. If I do small intakes like you would with an analog the flavor, throat hit and vapor is very weak. But yes the burn is a lot less. Thanks again!

Doots - That makes sense, I'm glad to know it's kind of par for the course. I was hoping this pack of Kools was my last. I just lit my last one then I'm afraid it's off to the store to pick up a few more packs...ugh!

I think I'll get there it's just going to take some time. I have a 901 coming in, maybe that'll run smoother - thanks again.

    Hi Finally.
Yeah. you'll find your niche here. dont dispair, I smoker for 40 years at 2 packs a day and Im off of them now for good thanks to ecigs. You'll be bale to do it too/
When you get the right conbination of cart, juice and device. It will all come together.
It took me awhile to find what I like and Ive purchased about 7 devices. I use most of them all the time too.. But 6volts gives me the Throat Hit I love! )

It really does depend on what you are looking for. I started with a 901 and loved it and now I use a 510 and love it even more. There is a thread here that describes the different models and the differences between them called Wide World of Vaping I think, and a beginners guide (might be called primer) to vaping that is good to read.

The 901 gives a cooler more flavorful vapor than the 510. The 510 tends to be more warm and full. Both have either manual or auto batteries available, I prefer the manual because you have more control over how it works and the batteries are sealed so you don't have to worry about liquid getting into the battery and killing it. Both can be used with prefilled carts, but are easy to refill yourself to save money.

There are also a lot of folks that like the 2 piece models, but I haven't used one so talk to some of the folks in the Vaper King forums to get the skinny on those.

Hope some of that has been some help.

I just started this week as well.
I must be lucky as I put the tobacco cigs down the moment my mailman showed up with my titan 510 and have not felt the urge to smoke a tobacco cigarette since. I am also a thirty year smoker.

My problem is I am not really sure how to tell when the cart is empty.

When the vapor gets thin, it's time to refill, or swap out. Also, you wanna swap out before you get that burnt taste and smell. As soon as that starts, swap carts, or drip in some juice.

That's what I've found anyway. Also, do not be alarmed if you develop a sore throat for a few days. That is the nerve endings coming back after years of being dulled by analogs. It does go away after a few days. It's a good thing.
