Hmmm. I like the idea, but isn't all cigarette smoking in Second Life technically using an electonic cigarette? What kind of ideas do you have for a Second Life presence?

That is what got me thinking. Where better to smoke an electronic cig than an electronic community?
I wouldn't know where to start but I understand that you can create communities or groups and 'build' your own 'clubhouse' on your own land, for socializing and discussing and even entertainment purposes. It's like a living, breathing community composed of people all over the world.
I thought it might be a challenge that the whole forum could take part in and contribute to.
There is a cost involved in building on your own virtual land, so maybe some kind of linden $ club fee could be levied to be a member of the 'ECF Frat House'?

Don't know what second life is but is sounds like some kind of Sims game or World Of Warcrap. Which I don't play. On second thought I think I do know what that is.

    Did it spawn from Half-Life?

Hey nitter, nice of you to go out of your way to be a jerk.

Not interested in the OPs idea? Fine. Come here just to insult someone else with nothing else to contribute in order to let everyone know how utterly cool you think you are...that's decidedly worse than being dorky. Though I can think of a few other 'd' words that might fit for you.

I am a constant Second Life player. As dorky as it is, it has opened up career paths for me into the media, technology journalism, and development fields. I have fun associating and networking with other people who use it not only for business but pleasure as well.

I also work with various charities hosting virtual fundraisers, since it's virtual currency can be exchanged for real. I've also done build replicas of real life buildings for real life educational facilities that have established presences there. It was actually through my schooling that I started in that one of my remote professors had weekly "meet ups" between his classes there in order to exchange ideas on how virtual platforms can affect development cycles.

Yeah, if ya wanna call it dorky great. But it's opened a ton of paths for me that half life and world of warcraft could never. I think it's an excellent means to network with others in spreading the word about things, though it's population may be a bit low for making a serious inroads to spreading the word about something like ecigs. My DJ'ing reaches a larger audience for that, and whoa, even that got it's start in Second Life.

It's a big virtual sandbox basically. A tool that folks use pretty much however they're gonna use it. Building it up into something it's not or tearing it down into "just another game" doesn't behoove any educational insight on the matter.

I used to play SecondLife a lot. In the past couple of years, it's sublimated into playing WoW instead, but if someone came up with the L$ to start up an ECF clubhouse, I might just start dropping by. I think it's a good idea, not only will it spread the word a bit but also give us another way to be a community. It shouldn't be too terribly difficult to come up with a ecig version of the standard SL cigarette; if I had any experience at all in scripting or animations I'd give it a go.

Hell I'd be willing to offer up space. I have a public venue that could be used for people to hang at and talk. If ya happen in give a holler to Loch Harlan and we'll see what's up.
