Morning Cough
When I smoked, I rarely had "smoker's cough" in the morning. Now that I vape, I wake up in the morning coughing. It keeps having to dawn on me that I've only been vaping for a couple weeks - seems longer. When I started vaping I had a cold so I'm wondering if it's just the cold lingering because aside from mornings, I sometimes during the day get a rattle in the top of my chest/bottom of my throat and usually have to clear my throat or force a cough to get it out. In the beginning, I was coughing out actual "stuff" but this is strange. What it is is just clear slime. I don't even know if it can qualify as mucous. It's really annoying. I think I'd rather have mucous honestly. It is like the slime you made at the science museum when you were a kid - clear, clean, and stretchy, and it likes to cling to the place it settles. I'm just wondering - is this left over from my cold? Or is it my lungs healing? Or is it a result of vaping - like this is the morning vaper's cough type of thing? Did anyone else have this happen? Does it go away?

I did the same thing, and it went away in a few weeks. Also, in some areas, now is allergy season again so I know some people have problems with congestion or they've caught a bit of a cold. I had a cold as I first started vaping... so I attributed some of my cough and the production to that, but read on the forum that your lungs will start to clear out the crud from smoking as well. What ever the cause, it has gone away, and now I rarely cough, and it never is productive.
It is also possible that you might not do so well with PG. If it persists, you might want to check out using VG only liquid to see if that clears it up?

Yeah, I pretty much use VG exclusively. I have a little PG but I rarely use it. How long did it take for it to go away for you? I guess I just assumed what the cough produced would have more color/substance to it. It's just clear and slimy. I'll read up on it more.

I've been vaping 1 month on the 4th, I have the same problem. I did not have a cold prior to vaping.

Mine is going away already and I can breathe easier it's great! But yeah, a few days after stopping analogs all the junk started to come up, hehe.

It took about 4 weeks. I couldn't believe how much better I felt. I think smokers get over colds slower anyway.
I was surprised by how many people start vaping here that have colds around the same time (before they start, not caused by the vaping!).
I think also that the vaping may cause dryness, and that may ramp up mucus production? I just kept drinking lots of water (or coffee all day for that extra buzz!). I know my lips are dry still... gotta love Burt's Bees! I use it like a fiend.

Okay, that makes me feel better. I was thinking maybe it was a result of vaping because it's clear and slimy instead of globs and dark gunk like at first. I do breathe a LOT better than I used to though. So this is probably like the after effects and part of the healing process. I guess 10 years of smoking isn't going to be completely undone in 10 days lol. My bf is still resistant to ecigs and the issues I'm having with the clear slime is helping him prove his point that I'm being a guinea pig. Whatever. We'll see what he has to say in a month or two when the slime goes away!

Yeah, it always took me forever to get over a cold, up to 6 weeks! I got over this one in a little less than a week and I started vaping on day 2/3 of the cold. Then I started coughing up yellow/brown mucous, sometimes with black flecks in it. Then it went to intermittent clear slime and has remained that way for almost a week now. It's annoying!

Yes, same here. If I'm not drinking coffee, I'm drinking Kool-Aid. I was never a fan of kool aid before I started vaping. Now it's like nectar from the gods - especially intense flavors like blue raspberry lemonade (I swear that stuff is made from crack). I also have some 100% cocoa butter lip balm that melts right onto your lips a lot like Burt's Bees that I can't live without lol.
Thanks for the general time frame. I'll monitor it and see if it gets better over the next few weeks.

The coughing is a good thing because your lungs have to readjust to not being exposed to all the toxins in analogs. I stopped having a dry throat and cough after about 1 month.

I'll still get a dry throat (froggy voice) with a few of my e-liquids. Don't know if it is ingredient specific, but suspect so.
Kool Aid! mmmmm haven't had any of that in a long time. May have to get some Lime. It was my fav!
Get well soon!!
