I can't see anything that much different between the 901 and 510 mechanically... other than auto/manual and the contention by most fanboys is that the hotter running 510 'destroys flavor'. If that's the case then any high volt mod would be completely tasteless, unlike what you state above, so that must not be the case according to your taste buds anyway... and mine. Heat, in many cases enhances tastes - just like in foods and there are objective reasons for that not just someone's opinion ;-) The tobacco flavors taste much better on my 510 than they did on the 4081 or even the 510 auto.

Hi Chris
That's what I'm talking about..... bats running 9-14 bucks each
Sampling e-cig after e-cig thinking somehow the latest model will replicate the anal log experience.
The point is that the atty/cartridge is probably just fine on most every model....(with some people liking this one or that one best)
and no, I don't sell mods ..... nor would I suggest a consumer stop supporting their favorite industry....
it's just kinda interesting to watch people jump and keep buying model after model with cheap, short life, inconsistant power e-cig bats.....
carrying 2-4 or more because they'll drop off, need charging - may die randomly within 2-14 days.
I guess the only reason I keep posting about this is that so many people claim the '37782whatever' model is soooo much better and 'you gotsta try it!' - while claiming a 'big''ugly' 'bulky' mod is soo ewwwwwww - well you know.
My top priority for vaping is performance - as in if the dang thing 'sucks' (or doesn't) - I might as well light up a cancer stick.
Over the last few months it appears that those who continue the quest for the holy ciglook p/v are not satisfied to the same extent as those who choose to use their atty on a reliable battery set-up.
For the most part - it's us 'moderate to heavy smokers/vapers' that really appreciate the mods.... that way we can put our money towards juice and an atty or two - to the tune of about $40-50 a month max.
It's great that others keep checking out whatever's now 'best' that looks like a ciggie...the retailers need you to keep buying 40-50$ kits.
We all have our own pattern of smoking - learning what equipment can realistically best serve you is what I believe this forum is about.
30 years of smoking...
Vaporized by a battery mod that simply works...
every time for hours -with bats that cost about $2.50 and live for months.

When I put my 901 atty on my Prodigy - magically there was flavor in
liquids that had none or little at 3.7v
Still love my SD for a mellow vape - Cisco's LV is great for the same thing and looks more like a ciggie too.
This thread was to discuss 901's..... all 3 of my mods use the 901 atty - and I'd put any one of them up against a 510 for an 8 hr test drive.....
Greenie - the battery mods - SD, etc all use 'regular' atty's .... SD's can be 801 or 901 - not sure if/when Trog will create a 510 adapter.
Prodigy - 801/901 and I think 510?
you can look up the rest...... some of the most recent offerings are doing the 510.
Happy Vaping!

So, you're saying that the 901 with it's normal battery produces little or no flavor.
And PV's that can produce more heat can produce more flavor... my point exactly. Thanks!
This thread was to discuss 901's.....
Uh.. you didn't start the thread. And the guy that did, ask this question:
"Are 901s going out of style?"
To answer that, one might have to say why. Anyway, you don't get to determine what's discussed in the thread.

wasn't trying to determine what's discussed... just acknowledging the original intent of the thread as some of what I've posted has 'strayed' a bit.
Happy Vaping...
whatever your choice of P/V!

After doing heavy consumer homework / research, I came to conclusion that Preference was the dominating factor in which MODEL was best..... Mainly because everyone "Swears" by the model they have LOL - Honestly, only the people that had several models were able to give a legit review....
So, I jumped into ECIGS fully prepared to probably have to buy 2-3-4 different models before I found one that worked for me. However I think I got EXTREMELY lucky with my DSE901 .... I didn't think anything could replace my (1) pack of Newports a day habit...
I cannot Imagine what any other model could do better than my 901... but I am sure other models work just as well.... I was able to 100% replace regular cigs with my 901 from day one... I've went 12 days w/out a cigarette & saved about $75.... If I do buy another model it will be solely for variety, but for the most part I wll be investing heavily into 901 equipment

my 510 collects dust while my 901 is chain vaped every day. I should have started with a 901 and I would have been happy from day one.
The 901 has a very smooth drag, excellent taste, excellent battery life, and the atomizer runs cool
the 510 has had stuck buttons that render the battery useless, atomizers that disintegrate material off the bridge, burnt fibers, floods easily. On a 5v passthru the flavor is so burnt tasting it's unbearable. That's when i packed all my batteries and atties up.
I'm waiting for some gorilla glue epoxy to give my 510 one last chance with a 510 mod. It very well could be that the batteries just don't give a good 3.7v for very long with standard 510 batteries. I'll find out if a 14550 gives a more satisfying hit.
i just ordered a 901 manual kit from cuda333 on ECF classifieds. i'll baby the button and hopefully it won't be a problem. I have a 901 box mod from Ken54 that has a sealed connection and the hit is only slightly different than an unsealed battery. The battery life more than makes up for that.
my only other ecig was a M401 that was horrible.

Just re-read a response to one of my earlier posts.
To clarify
I have many flavors of liquid. At 3.v I have my favorites and some that I didn't like so much. At 5v - some of the flaves I didn't like at 3.7 'tasted better'.... to me.
So no, I did not say a 901 regular bat produces little or no flavor.
I haven't used a 'reg' bat in months..... why carry 3 or 4 around to get through the day when rechargeable regular batteries in the mods I prefer last up to 10 hrs? Why spend $10 on something that may last a few days or a week/two - when there's an option to use the 901 atty I like and save $$ on batteries at the same time?

901's still around
Been vaping since January. Started out with 901, then 801, then 510, and now back to 901 and 801.
I think I really like the taste of the vape and didn't realize how much I missed it until the 510 just wasn't doing it for me anymore and picked up the 901 again.
Something about the 901 I really like. I have auto and manual batteries, but get better taste with the auto. Also have the 901 passthru (manual) and use it alot when I feel I need more vapor. Am looking at protege due to battery cost.
Seems to be just personal preference, just like Marlboros or Winstons or ect., ect.
Good luck to you!

well I've only been vaping two weeks or so, I got 901s 510s and 401s.
901 - pros: great flavor, best of them all. good throat hit. seems to use less juice
cons: seems more leaky, vapor production could be better
510 - pros: vapor production, throat hit.
cons: low on flavor, draw on my protege and passthru can seem airy/light
401 - seems like an in-between device, doesn't shine or excel at anything better than the others except its small overall size. cons, my attys are temperamental, draw gets really thick fast
