E-Cig Gatherings

Sorry if this idea has been out there before. I couldn't see any mention of it.

One thing thats blatantly obvious with E-Smoking at the moment is there aren't that many of us doing it. I find myself always on the lookout in pubs and clubs for others sat there vaping away but as yet haven't come across anyone.

I was just thinking that to raise awareness and to get more of a community feel from this it may be a fun idea to organise some local gatherings. Basically all the forum members in any location get together in a bar for a few hours on a set day or time, let the bar staff know what they are doing, and have a bit of a vaping session.

I for one would feel great sat around a table in a pub with a group of people all smoking again, something I haven't experiences for the past 18 months (since the smoking ban).

Obviously this depends entirely on how many users we have in each area, but I am sure it would be fun if even just a handful of vapers could be gathered in the same place.

Like I said, sorry if this idea has been put across before. I am new. lol. I am now going to start a thread for Birmingham, UK... and see if I can gather a few willing vapers together.

I'm in Portsmouth, and forum socials are always a good laugh. It's nice if only to meet the people behind the words.

I was working down in Portsmouth on Friday, in a big office complex called the 'Technopole' I believe it was.

I then went next door to a bar called 'Soverigns' (I think) which was below a Travel Lodge, and sat there vaping away for a good hour or so. Was questioned about it once but given the ok.

So for future reference, you can vape in that bar. lol.

Well we are pretty spread out across the country but I'd be interested should there be a gathering north of the border.

i suppose what we really need is someone to make a list of people who are interested, noting the first half of the postcode for location. Could work something out from that.

It's a good idea - but on a practical note the pubs are about to take off on the back of Christmas. Might these events be better in the New Year? It's a particularly quiet time for pubs just after New Year - which might mean that vapers got a warmer welcome than during the festive crush.

Oh no doubt New Year will be better. But for gatherings in the new year I think now is a good time to start putting the idea out there, discussing dates/venues, and giving people time to free up their diaries.

As for a list of people that would attend, if everyone wants to PM me their postcode I will happily save a list and then use MS Mappoint to do a nice fancy map showing everyone as little green dots, lol.

I agree that it would make sorting out the best locations for this much easier.

Just as a thought if people think this will work it may be a good idea to have a 'Gatherings' or 'Meetings' section on the forum, maybe as a sub forum to this one? That would make it much easier for people to see if there is one coming up in their area and to put their name down.

Unless anyone thinks thats a bad idea for any reason?
