I have opened mine up and the charging tube is secured with an adhesive that is substantially more robust than a silicone sealant. Perhaps they have changed the design since you got yours due to this original issue? (Or perhaps mine is from a different manufacturer)

I have two from Janty with no such modification - got them 4 months ago - no problem yet. I have one from Innovapor 3 months that has the 'sponge' on the top - no problem with that one. One of the Janty's gets daily use with my wife at work. The others - a few times a week.

I had one other one that was for autos and I tried to mod it for manuals and ruined it ;-)

I assume you have not yet had enough experience with the PCC to draw a conclusion about its reliablity. If I'm right, then I suggest you wait till you do. Otherwise you may be causing people to waste their money on an obsolete part.

You assume incorrectly. I use my PCC every day and have been for 2 months. Still works perfectly. So I have no problem advising anyone else as to its reliability.
