Saving money with PV's

80 days without a cigarette. 80 days and I don't even miss them. I could go on and on about how much better I feel. I could rave about how amazing (and sometimes awful) it is to be able to smell and taste everything. I could brag about how much whiter my teeth are now. I could do an entire post about the things I'm able to do now without running out of breath, but I won't. Today, I want to talk about the effect e-cigarettes have on your wallet.

When I started vaping, I wanted my e-cigarettes to look like regular cigarettes. I wanted to hold them and puff on them the same way I did my analogs. I liked to pretend that I was ashing them, and I even took a small puff into my mouth as if I were lighting the real thing. Over time though, I started to like the idea of my e-cigarette being its own entity. I wanted PV's that looked different, something that would confuse the uninformed. I began to purchase different colored 901's and 510's. I even sought out a 510 that has no LED. When I vape that device, it just looks like I'm sucking on a pen, then I blow out smoke and blow peoples' minds. The Janty box, well that looks like it came right out of Star Trek. I also went crazy on juices: different flavors, VG, PG, nicotine levels, etc. So, in my first month of vaping, I spent a lot of money, and I mean a lot of money. Not because I had to, but because this is not an addiction, it's a hobby.

Now it's day 80. The newness has worn off. The people I'm closest to are now used to my e-cigarettes. I doubt I could surprise them with any new devices, so I've stopped buying devices. I've settled on my favorite flavors, so I don't need to spend on unnecessary juices. The last time I spent money on anything related to e-cigarettes was on the 9th of October, nearly a month ago. On that day, I bought 30ml of menthol juice and 30ml of mint juice. I spent a total of $23.46 including shipping. Cigarettes would have cost me over $150 in this same time span. So, now that the initial "wow" factor of e-cigarettes has worn off, I'm saving about $125 per month. I think that's a pretty compelling reason to switch.

Anybody else finding this same phenomenon? Spend a lot initially, then get in a comfort zone, and save big over analogs?

I have been vaping for a month and I just bought my first MOD a Chuck.

That is my last big purchase until the titan mega case due out in Dec. I think.

I know the flavors I love and there are just a few more I'm waiting to try, then I will be on the "just buying supplies" side of the fence.

With all the purchases I have made I'm still not spending as much as I did buying cartons of analogs although I am spending more than I did when I switched to RYO and tubes.

If I had to do it again I just wished I had found the forums and e-cigs earlier.

I spent a small fortune during the first 2 months or so. I have at least 12 different e-cigs. I think I was just trying to find the right one. Now I use a prodigy and nothing else! I mix my own juice for about $5 per 30 ml. My attys seem to last forever...I use 510s and believe it or not: I've never had an atty go bad! So after the initial purchases of maybe $500 or so my savings are really racking up. Cigarettes in NY are very expensive, from $7 to $10 per pack, so now I find that I have so much more money. Well, you can see from my quitmeter how much I've saved in only a few months!

My standard order is about $55-65 dollars a month on e-cigs. $30 on juice (90ml total), $12 shipping, and the rest is to make sure I have back up batteries or atomizers as needed. I make sure each month I have two extra atomizers and two extra batteries. I try to buy from only one location so I can get juice and parts at the same time.

I never spent a lot on cigarettes compared to others. $90 a month (don't laugh) to support my pack a day habit. Yes, I never bought packs, only cartons.

I'm perfectly fine with spending $90 a month, because I would still be spending that much anyway. I would still be smoking today. The prices haven't gone up again in the last 6 months, have they?

I've been trying to keep my costs low to make up for my first month of vaping when I was placing multiple orders from everywhere under the sun. The best way to cuts costs is to find a model you like and stick with it. Otherwise you're stuck with a lot of spare parts you don't use. I've pretty much given all my other stuff away at this point. I kept them around a "backup" e-cigs. But a backup can still be extra atomizers and batteries of the same model you use everyday.

Theoretically, I don't have to buy any supplies this month, so instead I'm branching out and trying new juices from a few locations. I'm not 100% in the black, but I haven't gone overboard. So, I'd say I've almost broken even at this point. But it's really hard to not buy more fun stuff to play with. REALLY hard!

My first e-cig (JOYE306A) looked like a cigarette, too. I wasn't obsessed with it having to look like a cigarette. At the time, I thought they all looked that way. I was such a noob! Luckily it was only $49.95--quite the bargain 6 months ago--and proved it could be done! I also went on to the 901 and the 510. A glossy black 901 is still an elegant looking piece of kit. An all black 510 doesn't look like a pen it looks like a stick!

Yea, not counting the Mega Bucks I spent on the useless SE.... I have purchased 10 times more during the first two months getting what I needed to get comfy. Now, I think I am set for e-cigs, mods, and such. The juice will be a monthly thing.
After settling down now, I am starting to see the savings, I already knew the savings on my body so that is the big plus here. To me it was not about the money it was what could I do to ensure I would see my daughter walk down the isle, or maybe even a grankid someday. I'm only 51 but my body was feeling much older on analogs. I know it will take more time to totally rid my body of all the gasous poison I sucked into my body over thirty years, but hey it's a start......

Trust me it is tough at first. I wanted all the good stuff. My biggest problem was the battery life. I purchased a passthrough for home use and a Silver Bullet for 2 days of vaping on one charge. I am good to go with that now.
Just make sure you get what YOU need to keep you vaping.....

I've already saved without even vapping yet!!! Seriously. I'm new, just ordered my stuff. It was $99. For me to buy my regular analogs plus shipping for 3 cartons would have cost me $84.00. To try and save $, I was going to buy from overseas the cheapest analogs I could find. For 6 cartons it would have cost $125.00 for analogs I've never smoked before that were made in India. I've already spent $18.16 for 3 packs for 2 days. Until my DSE901 comes in (about 10 days) I'll be spending another - what -
$60 - $70?

All total - about $90 for current packs of analogs, plus the $125 I would've spent on 6 cartons is about $215 roughly. If I can vape for 2 months on $99 I've already saved $106. That's not including the lighters, the cleaners, the cough drops etc.

I haven't even started and I'm saving $$$$.
