Stupid question here

Ok..i have a stupid question.

i just purchased a mod..that came with 510 atty. I got the cartridges that go with it...they look like 901 cartridges to me and dont seem to fit.

Can anyone describe the differences between 901 and 510 cartridges ? I need to see if i received the wrong ones..or if I'm not seeing how it works properly.

What is it that has you saying they don't fit? Really tight? Do the carts have a whistle tip?

The cartridges for the 510 and 901 are pretty much interchangeable. Those from a 901 will usually be a tight fit going into a 510 atty but they do work and loosen up after use. I use 901 carts in my 510, I like the whistletips.

Don't use a lot of force in trying to make the cart go in to the atty. You can take an emery board to the part of the cartridge that is keeping it from fully seating, light sanding, doesn't take much.

Oh Thank you...I was having a moment here. They must fit really tight. I do have some with the whistle tip, as well as the regular looking cartridges like the 901. They look so similiar to the 901 i thought they had sent me the wrong ones.

Make sure we're on the same page. 510 carts are round and 901 carts have whistle tips If there are actual 510 carts w/ whistle tips that's new to me...

Most of the 901's carts I've used on 510's take a little extra push to seat them. Again, not too hard or you'll play the devil getting em back off. Voice of experience

My old lab would love a basset buddy, but she'll just have to remain happy with the 2 cats for now

510s come both ways, the 510 whistletips are fatter in the mouthpiece than the 901s. I use 901s in my 510 too sometimes, they fit great and may be a lil tight at first like mentioned above. The round ones should be the same inside if they are both 510 carts. If not, they may have sent u 901s but will work great!

Also, the whistle-tip 510 has a thicker "whistle" than the 901. The 510 comes in round (cylindrical) and whistle-tip, while the 901 only comes in whistle-tip.

All of the fat whistle tips w/ the rectangular poly holder I have came with 901 atty's? Go figure

Thanks for all the input here. It really helps alot...besides being clumsy I do have my blonde days too.

Just a tip (pun intended) 501 carts generally need to be lined up with the atty otherwise you will melt the plastic and that is super nasty, not to mention unhealthy. I take a good pair of scissors and just trim maybe 1/8" off the inside rectangle shape and I don't have to fool with lining them up anymore.
