    Default Frustations of vaping

The time and effort is unreal. I know at different time the ecig stops producing as well. You continue to look for the everlasting vapor and throat hit. You plug, unplug batteries, cleaning atomizers, changing atomizers, dying atomiers, flooding atomizers trying to continue to get that throat hit and vapor. You continuously mix liquids trying to get that extra special blend. We are afraid the FDA will stop us from obtaining our ecigs. We buy, buy, buy not necessarily to stock up but because we are trying to find that extra special ecig that will produce better and longer. Some vapers can control their spending and is actually costing them less to vape but a majority of us haven' reached that point and don't know if we ever will.

It seems like at some point in the day or night my ecigs just completely fail to work properly. I go crazy trying everything I have learned and read to get them to work better. Then all of a sudden they seem to be working again. This is a real mystery.

Of course we all feel this is all worth it because our health has improved. Some actually enjoy this new habit loving to discuss and read on the forum and share our experience with others.

So even though there is a lot of frustration in vaping overall it is much better for us in the long run. I just wish a better model would be invented and in time I'm sure it will just as eveything else improves.

I pretty-much feel / felt the same as you do. Analogues were time consuming as well, if you think about it but it was a routine that we all adapted to.

I've thought about this quite a bit because even though at first when vaping was a novelty to me and I didn't care about the constant effort it took, as time went and goes on, there are other things in my life that I need to do other than just 'quit' smoking / begin vaping.

Breaking it down, there are two major parts to this all-time-consuming and endless / variable results pattern. The steps I have employed so far to address both of these issues are:

    1. Went to a high volt mod (in my case a SB, I realized from very early on that the conventional 510, with it's constant battery charging concerns and inconsistent results were just not going to cut it). The hv mod allows for a more consistent vapor production, throat hit, and only a routine once-a-day changing of batteries.

    2. Went to an ultra-high nic juice, 48mg menthol. The pacifier-mode necessity is just not practical. I adopted vaping in an effort to quit smoking. The nicotine jolt is what I missed with analogues. Now I can take a few 'hits' and put the thing down for awhile, sort of like when I smoked. I believe that the pacifier-mode is a result of the need to try to suck more and more nic out of a lower level nic juice, sort of like drinking through a 'sippy straw' once you finally find water in the desert. From reading through this forum I have come to realize that 48mg juice is way over what most people could tolerate however, and I don't know why, but any lower than 36mg and I just don't 'get it.' It all has to do with tolerance levels but I'm surprised that mine is so much higher than what seems to be almost everyone else's on here.

One issue I have yet to fully address is the juice/cartridge issue. Although I have adopted the simple fluval and straw 'mods' it is still a PITA to address the need to refill so many times throughout the day. I've been reading about the pen spring mod and it looks as if it has merit. I plan to give that or some variation of that a try soon.

Best to you and all in this quest to move from one habit to the next.

I started with the RN4081 SmokeStik and routinely had nic juice get in my mouth, batteries switching endlessly, and carts seeming to be dry but showed they still had juice in the bottom when I went to refill.
THEN I found my M401 Dragon last week. Tight carts haven't let me taste a bit of juice, batteries have long life, and the high-bridge atomizer vapes the cart dry to the very bottom every time. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones who found the ecig I was looking for relatively soon. Vapin' ain't so bad.

These things are definitely a lot more labour intensive than anal-logs...but they are worth the effort for the health benefits and general enjoyment we get out of them.

This is an excellent topic and a thread that I hope a lot is added to as I plan on following it closely. I seem to have found a couple flavors that I find satisfying but, like Fester, have a need for the 48mg to give me that jolt otherwise I'm in constant "pacifier-mode". The 48mg stuff I have taste downright horrible but if I can tough it out for 10 minutes or so, I'm satisfied and don't need to constantly vape to get my "fix".

I would love nothing more than to find the perfect device/liquid combo where I could pick it up and vape for a little while and go on about my business feeling satisfied like I did with cigarettes. I hold out hope that some day that will happen but unfortunately like others, I'm stuck with what I have until I can afford to spend more on trial and error.

No smokes... drive to the store... lighter out of fluid... drive to the store... where can I squash this butt... dropped smoke in car--there's a smoldering ember somewhere--swerve a bunch on the road... burn a finger... resume smoking... ashtray's full =P... pull over to empty ashtray... time for a smoke break... ride the elevator 5 floors down, head out the front door, puff in the freakin cold/rain/oooo nice day/snow/etc...

I think it more than evens out and I spend about an hour on the weekend cleaning all of my atty's and gear

Simply being able to vape at my desk or in my home saves a TON of time and frustration.

You won't go back from the spring mod if you try it on the 510. I went back to poly for the plug and I get huge, consistent vape from first drag to last.

    1) fill exactly to the top of the spring.

    2) Insert the plug and (if dry) give it a few finger taps to saturate it.

    3) I then hold it to a tissue for a few seconds to wick off any excess juice.

    4) Then insert and vape or cap for later.

I can't imagine a better performing PV. If there were one, I could not take the vape from it.

Most of my frustration disappeared when I started to use the blue foam plug cartridge mod. My battery frustrations should end as soon as the mailman puts my Protege into my mailbox, today hopefully!

I have to agree. I use the blue foam in my carts for when I am away from home. It's easy, fast, and works great. But when I am home, I now drip exclusively. It's just so much better, in my opinion.

And a good battery mod makes all the difference in the world.

I don't find my e-cigs much of a hassle. I maintain my attys and restuff my carts once a week, and it takes me approximately a half an hour on the weekend. It's such a minimum amount of work to do for the health benefits I'm getting.

I have a standard 510 and although battery life isn't great, it doesn't bother me that much. I've been using the blue foam plug mod which has been working quite well. The frustrating part is trying to find that perfect "just had a cigarette" liquid much like Fester was referring to. I enjoy constantly vaping at times and sampling different flavors but sometimes I just need something to kick me in the backside like a couple Newports used to do. I sometimes feel like a junkie chasing that first high when I'm in "pacifier-mode" which seems to be quite often.

I could not agree more Deschain. Even with the frustrations, I've been smoke free without cheating for 2 weeks now. Rolling up on 2 months if you don't count the occasional slip.
