One extra step I do when boiling
Both before and after I put the atomisers in some Iso ALC;
I do it before because I think it cuts the e-liquid a bit
I do it after to get the last bit of residue out and to get residual moisture to evaporate more quickly
What do ya think about this method?
Am I just waisting my time?

On July 1, 2006 the European Union Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) and Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) came into effect prohibiting the intentional addition of lead to most consumer electronics produced in the EU. California recently adopted a RoHS law[3]
and China has a version as well.

I boiled mine for 12 minutes. Atomizer survived for a few days then died.
Tried CPR but was too late.

It's pretty easy, you take and blow through the atomizer at the battery end
to get all the old e-liquid out of the reservoir and then put them in a pan
with water and then bring the water to a boil, take the pan off just after
the water boils (maybe 30 seconds to a minute after the water boils) and
then set the atomizer on a paper towel with the battery end up so that it
can drain. Let it sit until it cools and then blow the water out and then
add a drop of e-liquid and a fresh cartridge, let the atomizer sit for a
little while to allow the e-liquid to get into the reservoir and then you
can use it again.
I let them sit over night so about 8 to 10 hours. Then before I prime it back up
i make sure all the water is out by blowing into it a couple of more times
When you say you 'set the atomizer on a paper towel battery end up' does this mean the battery end is above the cartridge end, or the other way round.
Sorry for being so dense.

He means threaded end up. So the side that you screw the battery onto/into facing the sky, and the mouthpiece/cartridge end facing the paper towel.

I posted yesterday to a person not to boil them only to get a PM today that he went ahead anyway and they all died--As I said before the wires that you can not see are very thin and can not withstand boiling. It makes the wire very weak, brittle and it breaks it apart--so if you are going to do it--be sure you have backups. It is not like you can run down the the suppermarket and buy "a pack of atomizers"--hopefully that day will come--Happy Vaping

I just took an 801 I have that has never worked worth a cr@p and boiled the atomizer. I held it in tongs and swished it in the ALMOST boiling water for what seemed long enough. I let it drain, waited for it to cool, stuffed paper towel onto the cart end and blew in it, HARD. Shook it out some more... no water. Put a few drops of liquid in the atomizer... Let it sit. Put 3 more drops in and checked the battery end; no liquid. Put a nice wet cart on and it still works like cr@p but it does work. I am going to assume that these things are pretty dodgy and some of them will crap out and others wont.
I just never had any good results with this 801 and everyone seems to be really happy with them. I suck my brains out for next to no vapor, pick up my 901 and I'm in vapor heaven... I wish my EVO's would get here and release me from this e-cig hell.. Guess that's for another thread.
