Default How long....

How long after purchase do you recommend cleaning the atty? Or how often after the initial one? ~Thanks~

Hrmm, I am intrigued by this. It seems to avoid both of my big objections to cleaning: no harsh chemicals and no drying out the atty. I think I'll try this the next time one of my attys gets gunked up.

I have been cleaning atties by boiling for about 6 months, I have never had one die (510 and 401s)
the meathod I use is boil for 10min then boil for 5 min on end (get the steam to go through the blow hole)
after I soke in coke for 12-18 hrs
then clean with blue label vodka
prime and away you go
I only clean my atties when they need it, hope this is of help

Sounds like overkill to me but if it works, it works.

On the topic of boiling, I've been alternating 2x 901 attys and a 510 atty for the month and a half I've been vaping.

Out of those three the 510 and one of the 901's are still going like new (with once a week blow-outs)
The other 901 suddenly dropped to 10% perfomance. By that I mean....when i hold a primed atty to my ear with a manual battery, I hear a nice loud hiss/crackle. This thing would go..."pop....crack................pop" and emit tiny amounts of vapour.

A mate I hooked up with a 901 kit and spares has had 2 901 attys die on him (I'm assuming user error) and he lost track of one.

He gave me his other dead 901 atty and I boiled it with the one I had limping at 10% (boiled a good 3-4 mins) After letting them cool, blew them out, drained overnight, primed them, hitched em up to a battery.

And both are functioning exactly as they were before boiling. My mates totally dead atty is still totally dead, and mine is still producing a pitiful amount of vapour.

It might also be worth mentioning that there wasnt a single grain of visible residue left in the pot. I'm guessing something other than gunk buildup killed these attys.

Any other possibilities?

I boiled a few times, until it took the paint off my atty. Before I did, it already had a little chip in the paint, afterwards, the paint flaked off with a fingernail scratch. It was only in the water 15-30 seconds. It turned out okay, cuz I stripped the batt to match, but I don't boil anymore. Coke bath, soak in hot water, syringe water through to rinse.

I too can confirm that boiling an atomizer works well. I even let it boil for quite some time too.

The atomiser will need some time to be re-primed, or whtvr, though. The first time you are gonna try them on after that they :

a) will have that 'ugly' burnt plastic' taste you get when they are not wet with juice. My dse 103 was like that.

b) get no vapour at all for a fair number of drags, my M-series atomizer (EVO) was like that.

Other than that the taste will be great, i dont know if it is as good as when cleaning them with cola, vinegar, alcohol or whtvr other ppl have suggested cause i haven't tried that yet.

so I had this one atty that I have been having an extremely strong burnt marshmallow taste...but it was a really really burnt marshmallow, and not pleasant to vape (it was very harsh). I tried cleaning it with vodka and hot tap water to no avail. So I decided I had nothing to lose with this, since I couldn't use the atty anyway...I took a pan filled it just enough with water to be able to cover the atty completely. I boiled the water prior to placing the atty inside. Once I placed the atty inside, I let it sit for 2 mins...took it out for about 30-45 secs...then placed in for another 2-3 mins. Took it out and set it connector side up on a paper towel for about 1 min. Then I took a paper towel and wrapped it around the connector side (as it was still very hot) and blew through it till I got no more moisture on the towel. I then let is air dry for a few minutes...dripped some juice in, connected it my batt, put a fresh cart in and started vaping. The harsh vape was gone! Keep iin mind I am still testing as I type this, so I don't know if the harsh vape will return. I'll keep you posted if it does!

as a last resort you really have nothing to lose...like I said before, my atty was totally useless with the harsh vapor it was producing. And now works perfectly.
