Houdini, the only time I see red briefly is when I turn it off..so not a good sign that it's red all the time..
What would be a good power pack for the regular passthroughs then, if there is any? was the APC one working well?

Sun Vaporer, on page 4 of this thread you said you had one going strong. Which passthrough were you using?
Houdini
I was doing 2 posts at the same time, sorry if I wrote it that way, it was just in general & not referring to you.

I have a David Yang manual and as Sun pointed out this Duracell is charging the 3.6V battery in the battery box.
I charged the Duracell overnite - tAs far as led lights front side where the USB output port is- red turned to green to show it is fully charged
But the Led light on top of the Duracell only turns green when it is actually charging something in my case when I vape , the green light turns on indicating its charging the passthrough battery box.
With the regular passthroughs, nothing happens to the Led light on top? no reaction when vaping?
(ordered some and guess this Duracell will be useless for those)
Misty yours is working just like mine is. When I hit my manual switch the light turns green to show its charging the battery in the usb pass thru. Then the green light will just fade out when it's done. The only time I get a red light is when the Duracell is out of charge. I think what everyone is saying is it doesn't seem to work on the pass thru without a battery.

With my KB, I just carry it around with a charged batt. No battery pack really needed.

The point is, you can't compare what power source works with a Janty KB or David Yang's manual switch to the basic passthroughs because the former already have a battery inlcuded on the passthrough.
I really don't want to sound like a know it all on this but these things were tested and discussed here some time ago.
Since 1000ma has been proven to work, I would even be leery of the ones that say 750ma. I wouldn't purchase one of those unless the seller could guarantee me they work at least as well as the 1000ma....or money refunded with no problems. Otherwise, it's just another waste of money.

just a comment.. these things here are very good.. expensive chinese price so they should be.. just got a couple..
DealExtreme: $51.40 Mobile Power Rechargeable Emergency USB Battery/Charger (5400mAh)
but they are designed to charges batteries in a similar way to what a PC USB socket would do.. not to provide permanent power to something..
they need to sense a battery before they switch on.. they then charge the battery in the device thats plugged into them... they dont power it directly..
i dont know how the duracell thing works but it might not power directly ether..
so it would charge a janty inline battery but not power an e cig directly..
trog
ps... the DX device would recharge the little janty battery at least eight to ten times.. up to three days e smoking away from the mains.,.

Nice powerpack,Trogg & explanation about direct power -
So only a PC powers the regular passthroughs (that have no battery box) "directly"?
Lu,
You always said 1000 mah necessary to power a regular passthrough..I have that embedded in my brain! just weird this Duracell says it but doesn't do it..

It would do it only if the passthrough has a built in battery. Some do some don't. Mine doesn't.
