    Default Burn baby burn!

Ok folks, aside from my issues with "heavensgifts" crummy batteries. I am really enjoying my new 801 that I got from Chad at Ecigsupply.com

However, I'm getting that NASTY burned cartridge stuffing taste A LOT. I try to keep the cart as moist as possible, but even then, I still get it.

Any suggestions? I've tried pushing the stuffing further into the cart so that it was further away from the atomizer, but it still expands back down, and it seems like the atomizer is just frying any residual juice that wicks down onto it.

    ??

Not sure what to do about this. Is it possible that my atomizer is just to burly? lol

Try a different cart or try pulling the cart material out and turning it around and see if the first few puffs taste burned. You can take the cart off and just drip for a little while and see if the taste goes away. If it doesn't then it may be the prime in the atomizer burning off, how long have you been using it?

The wool/stuffing is supposed to touch the steel wool in the atomizer. I only get that taste when my cart get low and the wool pushed away form the steel wool, when I refill my carts I fluff up the woll in the cart untill it is even with the top of the cart. Also, there is not a pool of e-juice on top of the wool. A pool of juice on top of the wool will cause you to get juice in your batterys.

Ah the prime... forgot about that.. i bet thats it.

I've been using this atomizer since.... Thursday evening. So about 3 days... I'm on my second cart, but BOTH of them got visibly burned. Theyd start out all white and pretty, then after a few draws It'd start tasting burnt. I'd pull off the cart, and sure enough there'd be a dark brown spot and singed cart stuffing. Is that normal?? This is my first PenStyle, and my 901 never did this kind of stuff unless it was low on juice.

Try dripping. It works better on 801's than carts do. 801's have hot atomizers and that causes the cart to dry out fast and melt the stuffing. Take the cart out and drip 2 drops directly on the atomizer.

Ah.. so dripping is the way to go huh? I supposed i could try that.

I assume you have an 801? If so, how often do you clean/drain your atomizer if your primarily dripping on it?

Do you go through atomizers faster than if you use carts??

Have you tried another atomizer? This doesn't sound normal to me... (I bought a set of atomizers a while ago that were doing this too - ended up just not using those anymore; it weren't 801-atomizers by the way - just a bad batch I suppose, nothing was wrong anymore when I took a different atomizer then one from this set).

I personally believe that the burning taste is coming from the wick inside the atomizer coil getting crispy from the heat. I had an issue with an E-Cigar like that, and nothing would make it go away (not even dripping). I looked really closely at the wick material, and when I touched it with some tweezers, it crumbled apart like charcoal. It could be that your wick is burning.

I would tend to agree with the other forum members that some devices are thirsty monsters. If those devices tend to run hot, like a Kissbox, you will experience the dry, burnt taste you read about on these forums when your cart is nearly spent. 'I agree that this 'off' taste is a result of the atomizer burning off some of the cart material that is dry. These damn things do not hold enough e-liquid.
