I am testing a bunch a powerpacks now, I have a 1400 mAh Battery that outputs 5 Volts & 700 mAh and It Works (got 10 hours out of it). I have a 3400 mAh Battery Pack That Outputs 700 mAh @ 5 volts, it works better then the 1400 mAh Pack (lasting 2 days now). Also remember these are brand new, after a month or so it will not do as well, this includes all battery packs.

Not to Confuse anyone but any battery that is of good quality you can go a little lower on the mAh size & output for a while when its new, But I still rather have the 1000 mAh output. I am testing with a 901 & 810 USB Pass Throughs.

Ohh, That damn Duracell Power pack, it has a 1000 mAh Battery and only puts out about 500 mAh (manufacturer rated up to 1000 mAh), due to the main size of the 1000 mAH battery and it cant handle a large load, only slow charging), it can not handle the fast & high demand to put out, thats the reason it does not cut it!

Hope That Helps.

Keep Vapin!
mAh is a unit of CAPACITY how much a battery stores it will give you an idea of how long it will last.

mA is a unit of CURRENT it tells how much electricity flows.

Analogy time: a runner has been sweating profusely and NEEDS water. Two people are standing by to hand him water. #1 has a Gallon jug with a small nipple allowing only ounces to flow.

#2 has a pint Glass allowing everything to come out rapidly.

Which dioes the runner want Capacity Jug/mAh or flow Glass/mA Ideally he wants both but right now he chooses Flow.

E cigs need approx. 1 Amp aka 1000 mA it doesn't matter what the mAh is except to give us a vague Idea about how often we will charge the battery.

Or put in a more understandable way for some.

Milliamps (mA) is how much current the unit puts out..

Milliamp hours (mAh) is a rating of how long it will put that current out before it loses charge.

Think of it like water. You have a big bucket with a hose coming off it.

(mA) is how much water can flow through the hose at one time.

(mAh) is how much water the big bucket has in it and how long it will take for all of it to drain out.

Higher (MA)=bigger hose.... Higher (Mah)=bigger bucket.

I just received, this week, a M401 USB passthrough from Eastmall. It's very light, so I guess there's no battery in it.

My laptop will power it and my USB car charger will power it. My brand new APC power pack will not power it, neither will a wall charger.

After reading this very confusing thread, I guess it's because my passthrough doesn't have a battery in it.

Am I right?

I found it all a bit confusing also but I came to the same conclusion as you. My 901 passthrough doesn't have a battery in it so I am a bit bummed out.

Phew and Hurrah!

I was having PTSD flashbacks to my HS physics course reading thru this thread, and then I get to the end and find a link to a product that will work for powering my passthrough.
Thank you YVilla, you're a gem! (and Trog and Cell)

I am noting down this thread, though, in order to come back to it and study it more thoroughly at a later time.

Indeed, this thread was a nightmare at first but i've found the perfect item that will work for me.

Seriously, Im using a Noma Pocket Power Charger with my USB Passthrought and it work great. 3200mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery.. I used it in a survival trip to recharge my 510 PCC via USB cable to mini-usb, and directly Vape with a passthrought at night near the Camp Fire, those power pack are awesome!

What I really want to do is ditch the usb passthrought, open the Pocket Power Charger casing, remove the female USB part and solder an atomizer socket directly for my 510 atomizers. Im sick of playing with flashlights mods.

WEZZIE: My passthrought came from HappyVaper and got an AAA battery in it. its for the 510

Default thouroughly confused after reading thread

thanks for the help from all of you. unfortunately some of us are just thick headed. i have no idea if my passthrough has a battery in it or not. the ones with the batteries are user modded? so if you bought one from a vendor it will not have a battery in it?

will this work?
Battery holder: AA x 4 with USB interface connector and Belt clip ("Out" / "IN" / "OFF" power switch) - RoHS Compliant

with this?

DSE901 USB Passthrough Black - Manual Button - Rocky Mountain Vapor you have reached the mountain top of electronic cigarettes!

oh i've seen this just now.

* Battery Cell: Lithium Polymer
* Power Capacity: 18000 mAh @ 5v
* Rated Input: DC 19V, Max 3500 mA
* Rated Output: DC 5-20V, Max 3500 mA
* Charge Time: ~4 Hrs
* Duty Cycle: 500
* Dimensions (W x L x H): 7" x 4 1/2" x 3/4"
* Weight: 1 lb

on http://www.woot.com/

it says it's a batter pack and charger but the output is 5-20v which concerns me. is this too dicey to use?

thanks again.

looking at the product sheet for the energizer item reveals that there are 3 separate outputs for different voltages. the usb is 5v. looks like a very impressive power supply that is versatile as well. i'm going for it.
