I supply over 300 tobacco retailers and they shun e-liquid like the plague... We offer three flavors of Dekang, and many carry it - but it just doesn't sell... As unpopular as the concept may be with many users, most US suppliers are small businesses just like millions of other mom and pops.
In order to sell to tobacco retailers, I urge them NOT to exploit prices for kits. Most of our retailers sell 510 kits for under $60. Considering the cost of storefronts, insurance, payroll, (etc.) IMHO it really is a fair compromise. Where they make their profit is on charging $4.95 for a 10-pack (costing $2.25) in carts.
If you are reading this post, you are part of the 5-10% representation of e-cig users (who are active in e-cig forums, and) who have dedicated the time and effort to learn how to use e-liquid.
- New users don't get screwed on kits.
- Retailers are encouraged to push e-cigs in their stores.
- Carts are still less than half the cost of analogs.
All I am saying, is that there is a HUGE populace who have little or no interest in dripping - and they are the ones who are keeping the prefilled cart market going. It isn't a matter of not knowing about dripping - it's that the convenience and cost factor of buying prefilled carts is more a selling point than the cost savings of dealing with e-liquid.
Color Webby a prefilled cart user. Even if I didn't own the company, at $2.00/pack, I'd buy carts all day long.

Its funny that the FDA has their nickers in a bunch over e-cigs but have approoved the use of nicotine inhailers sold by the same people who make nicotine gum. Oh but they can charge an arm and a leg for them. E-cigs are not cheep and most kids couldn't afford it so whats the big deal. When I told my doctor I was going to get off cigs using the e-cig he was all excitted and said that in his opinion they were a safer choice and you have less chance of failure. I hope Minnesota doesn't follow New Yorks foot steps or I would be up set.
I know that there's no reasoning with someone like Linda Rosenthal because she believes in government being in our shorts, but I sent this message to her anyway..

Let's talk about trace amounts. By trace amount, we're talking in terms of parts per billion. Did you know that traditional cigarette tobacco is treated with diethelyne glycol? Did you know that a clear majority of the medical community sees electronic cigarettes as a far better option than smoking traditional tobacco cigarettes? Did you know that the vast majority of electronic cigarette consumers are currently tobacco cigarette smokers? Did you know that the vast majority of tobacco smokers that have purchased electronic cigarettes have done so for a far safer alternative to inhaling 4000+ chemicals of which over 40 are known to be carcinogens? What you're doing by eliminating an obviously far safer option to tobacco cigarette smoking is sentencing many people to near certain ill health. We don't need you making decisions of this nature for us! Yes I'm from CT, but in this monkey-see-monkey-do government that has evolved from the well intended, brilliant system of our forefathers, you're setting a precedent that will encourage other blind assembly members like yourself to follow."

Color me one too. I use cartomizers, and while I do refill them sometimes, my reason for using them is the convenience of not having to drip or mess with various fillers and concoctions. I buy minimal supplies of liquid and count on pre-filled cartomizers for 90% of my usage. They are still cheaper than cigarettes.

Just to clarify, I never said anything about dripping--what I stated was that the majority of people buy carts to fill them or refill them with e-liquid. That is what the major Suppliers have told me for a very long time now.
