Exclamation Nearing disaster in New York - please take action NOW to prevent e-cigarette ban.

It has just come to our attention that the New York State Assembly voted unanimously to outlaw the sale of electronic cigarettes last week.

You can view the "discussion" as recorded by an ECF member below. Please note the total lack of debate, and the rehashing of the misleading FDA statements from last May.

All is not lost, however, as the Health Committee will also be voting on its version of the bill, and it is this that will be passed to the senate. Please therefore, contact all members of the health committee (details in following post) and urge them to vote against this cruel and inhumane legislation.

If possible, please call them and/or fax them - this is much more effective than emailing, as was discovered in the Illinois action.

There is a thread with much more detail in the CASAA forum, and I recommend that all ECF members read it: Attention ECF members and CASAA members!! Call to Action for New York!!

Remember, if this passes in New York State, we will likely see many other states crumble without opposition.

As Smokey's link goes to midthread of the discussion on the CASAA sub-forum, I'm going to link to the beginning of the thread:

Attention ECF members and CASAA members!! Call to Action for New York!!

In case anyone's wondering WHY I still have the SD as my sig, it's because I got my first ecig in January 2008 but still smoked for 10 months, until I got my first SD. I have other APVs, but also still love and use my SD (with a Bulli on top). I will be forever grateful to Trog for saving my life!

Sure until reach time the FDA can determine, how much they can tax the E-Cig. That is it in the nut shell.

Stopping 11 year olds from buying e cig, yet that 11 year old can buy drugs, and kill himself. Work on stopping the use of drugs, getting into our schools, and leave the e-cig. alone.

I received automated replies from most of the health committee members, but since I stated clearly that I'm not a NY resident, I don't expect much of a response. I'd hope that NY residents get more of a follow up. It looks like open comments website isn't getting updated fairly frequently. But since the comments are sent through a moderator, they will at least have a record of them.

There is no way my car can or will make it to Albany . . . Carl Kruger is the Senator from my District. The calendar on his site has him in Albany until the 29th . . .

Do you think it would serve any purpose for me to visit his office to hand deliver a letter in person and demo my PV for his staff or hold out and try to make an appointment with him since as of now the bill doesn't seem to be on the agenda for the 27th?

Senator Marty Golden is having a Town Hall near me in Brooklyn, NY on Thursday the 29th which I had planned on attending and still will if the bill is not on the agenda come the 27th . . .

    Thoughts/input?
