No, I'm much better looking than that

Pete--take a good look at that build up

Pete--I here what you are saying. IF you take a good look at the build up under a 10x scope, you can actually see that the coil in and if itself is not smooth and linear. It has bumps and ridges that occur due to the expantion and contration of the heat. I have scraped this residue off and can tell you with pretty much certainty that the build up is in fact e-liquid residue. If you put a flame to it--it does not have the plastic smell that the cartridge core polyester material would have. It is a hard carbon build up that you can in fact shatter by heating and then throwing the coil into cold water. I will again take another look at your cartridge core material build up this weekend as you may be on to the fact that this carbon build up is in fact a comination of residual and core material. I will report back--Thanks--Sun

The thing is sun if you remove any heating element from any kind of boiler or a kettle or a steam iron.....the liquid will only ever leave a reasonably even coating, all the atomizer coils I have looked at have had large lumpy bits on them ....and that simply shouldn't happen if it was 'only' liquid.

You Have a Good Point Pete

Pete--You have a good theory as the residue should cover the coil in a consistant way. I will try this. Using one atomizer with just dripping and the other with the cartridges and compare as their may well be merit to your theory of the case. Do you actually think the polyester is literally dripping from the core? and if that is the case, would we not be able to see it on the Bridge?--Just trying to get your input here Pete--Thanks--Sun

Under a magnifying glass I have been able to see minute threads of the polyester on the bridge and on one of my coils and I am quite sure I could just about see a little bit of it poking out of a black lump.......all I can say is that if it 'isn't' the cart material.....e-liquid has some pretty strange properties if it can form lumps when being vaporized.

Pete--Thanks as we will be having another look

Pete--Thanks for this report. It is the first of its kind and we will be sure to check it out this weekend--One has to wonder when you look at the core and see that it has melted and is countersunk---Where did it go????--So your theory has merit--Terraphon and I will report --Thanks again Pete---Sun

Ok sun that's great ....the more minds on it the better.
Oh just to report ...the wire wool hasn't been working well for the past hour and I think it's because of the same problems reported in the older thread that kate pointed out to me...so I have gone back to a normal cart.
