Wrap that fitting with a protective cove like a rubber place mat from the kitchen table then very gently put pliers over that and turn it off, squeeze them just tight enough to apply enough pressure and turn that cap off.!!

I will try the wrap and twist .. I am also noticing that when I open and then later close the part with the vent holes there is a little juice that seeps out around that part .. Must need to adjust a rubber washer somewhere .. I just don't know which one.
My fav "tool" is to use one of the old-fashioned flat rubber jar lid openers. They cost about a $1 for 2 of them and they'll last forever and not scratch or ruin threads in any way. They are usually found at the dollar stores or hanging in the aisles at grocery stores.

I used to have one of those jar lid rubber twister thingys .. I should go look for it again.
Thanks .. will take a closer look later today. Seems like a great idea but for now I gotta run .. Grown son's birthday / pool party / BBQ in a few hours.
Better stick my batteries on charge and get ready for the party .. Is that foam from a sponge? Looks like a delicate job making that ...
