Tanning leather is time consuming and tedious LOL... but is a fun hobby if you dont get too grossed out. I do it the old fashioned way with wood ash, scrapers, brains to soften, and a large round stretching long to work it to soften it... then if I want to make it water resistant, I put it over a smoke pit on a frame

If the world goes to hell in a hand basket.... well, I wont go naked and hungry LOL

Here is sasuage recipie

15# venison -10# pork loin
1/8 cup worshisire
1 tsp smoke flavoring
3 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. sage
1.5 tsp. cayenne pepper
3 tbs. crushed red pepper
finely minced peppers of choice

I usually let it sit for 24 hours and stir it every so often to mingle the flavors, then I make patties and freeze them for frying.

I dont have the means to smoke sausages, so I just make patties outta them

that's the way and what I was saying but your right I'm ready for 2012. lol tedious...... recipe noted!
