I don't like Chinese (I like Japanese) but I use accent on meat & that is MSG. Never has bothered me. A girl I used to work for got massive migraines from it.

The batterys are built in on these I believe. So it's all part of the bottom piece. I have an Ultimo that is built that way also. Since no one that I know as of yet has had to replace the battery on the ultimo I have not seen any info on that issue.
I do remember in a discussion on this [pertaining to the Ultimo] Bad said he may be able to when the time comes.
