One other aspect of the lactic acid issue that I completely forgot about - mineral deficiency. Calcium, magnesium, potassium, selenium, iron, sodium...all alkaline buffering agents. If you're low, maybe that's why some people have problems with PG.

It takes a large amt. of produce just to get your potassium. Haven't been so good with the diet lately. I do take a high dose of magnesium every day. And back when I had my LA incident on metformin, my diet was horrendous, and I was seriously mineral deficient. I had a typical acidic western diet, with little to no ingestion of veggies & fruit, little H20, and typically drank diet soda all day.

People on high protein, low carb diets would be in an acidic state too, unless they were compensating with supplements/and or eating lots of veggies.

That says alot. My magnesium/potassium/calcium is always low. I love veggies, but still have to take supplements constantly to keep them up. And juices are definitely different. My x brand was indeed the culprit when I felt so awful a while back. I know because I stopped using it, felt better, and then Sunday, it was all I had in the car, so used it again.........ugh. Now I've felt like death the last 3 days. Another strange think with vaping is that it seems to make me crave milk. I'm lactose intolerant and usually avoid it like the plague. But now it seems to be going down okay. And I use my lactaid when I get nic juice heartburn and it works right away. (I know lactid acid and lactose are different, but they must have some kind of connection because these things work!)

That's interesting. I would think that using PG & an increase in lactic acid would make your body more acidic, thus crave alkaline minerals? Maybe it works backwards the same way - lactic acid depletes mineral stores, and minerals are needed to counteract acidity. Don't know if that makes sense.

I shouldn't have spoken so early. I'm still having problems with cutting PG formula w/VG. I can't be totally sure it's not the flavoring in the actual ejuice (not one I added). So back to the drawing board. Going to vape strictly VG one day, and PG another day, without any ejuice. At least I'll be able to rule that out, and focus on the formula/flavor.

Argh, I'd like to have just ONE day of enjoying vaping. Since starting, I actually prefer vaping way more than analogs! But have only done very short sessions for a few hours at the most.

This time it is different though. I'm having the chest tightness the same as when I was using menthol crystals & Lorann flavoring, and not fogginess. But I'm almost suspicious that the chest tightness is actually gas. Because, umm, err... it's showing itself in other obvious ways. And let's just say it's an odor that I've never smelled before except driving by a landfill. Parfum Eau de Methane.

I took some gas-x. I'll see if that helps.

    Booboo,

Does your heartburn feel like pressure & you can't breath? Or is it a reflux burning type heartburn.

I don't really get heartburn unless I swallow a bunch of juice and then it is acid burn from throat to stomach. My issues were extreme fatigue, heart papls, chest pain, panting for breath, foginess, and feeling "effed up", like I was going to die. They were from that bad juice. My daily side effect symptoms (from pg and vg--though worse with pg) are fatigue, muscle cramps, irritability (extreme), labored breathing (better than when walking around while I smoked, but worse because it happens sitting still now), acne, glassy-eyed feeling (like if someone looks at me, are they gonna think I'm high?), blood-sugar issues, and weight gain.....
and if another person blames side-effects on nicotine withdrawal, I'm going to scream. In the first place, you have to quit nicotine to withdraw from it. I never have. Alot of us are using more nicotine than we did with cigarettes. That would be more of a cause than withdrawal. To all of you who aren't on "0" liquid and are having side efffects, look up "denial" before you believe the people who blame quitting analogs for everything. Sorry to go off, but reading that everywhere is getting on my last nerve.

I don't know if this helps but I started feeling heaviness in my chest and being uncomfortable with my breathing like I couldn't get enough Oxygen.

I was using Puresmoker's High Nicotine sample pack. I used up the coca-cola bottle and I was fine. It wasn't until I started using the 555 that I started to feel the symptoms and it was only 1/2 way through the bottle.

I threw away my cart which I have been using for a few days and I replaced it with a fresh blank one and my symptoms seems to have disappeared.

Maybe it was the filler that got burnt or contaminated?

    Either way maybe try that?

I hear you Booboo. I'm getting frustrated with the "adjustment period" statement. I'm only posting over here for now, because I don't want anyone to think I'm anti-pv. I'm really not. I think it's a wonderful thing, for those who have no or only momentary s/e's. But my chest still hurts. And I haven't vaped since yesterday. Not an adjustment, not nicotine withdrawal or OD. I'm smoking analogs, and with every one I smoke, it irritates my lungs. I never had that on analogs before. Maybe occasionally in the morning for a second. I don't know if there's some kind of interaction with analog smoke & vp vapor...but I can barely even smoke analogs now (which incidently are at least additive free). I may need to slap on a patch, which works like shiat for me, and give my lungs a break. I'm still waiting on a shipment of USP VG & PG to try those things out so I can rule them out.

I'm totally depressed about it. I was so excited about replacing analogs with vp, and now I may have no choice to not use either, and quit with a patch. Last time I quit for a year, I gained 40 lbs. on the patch.

ETA: I've also tried/tested numerous things: Blood sugar - normal, my saliva/urine ph: normal (I even tested blood ph, but that's just impossible to do with a strip), breathed in steam mist (to moisten my lungs), took in extra calcium, magnesium, iron...and other things I can't remember right this second. So I think I can rule out any kind of lactic acid effect.

    Vspede,

Yes, I had thought about the filler in the cart burning & causing irritation around day 2 or 3. I tried dripping the day after that, and still felt the same after effects. I also was very careful on the days I did use the filler to make sure it didn't dry, and I rinsed out filler & atomizer every day.

    To MonkeyLurv and Booboo:

I am going through the same thing as well.... and it is indeed very frustrating. I have been vaping for about 2 months and the symptoms have come and gone but now they just seem to be getting worse. I just can't seem to get it right. PG makes me feel spacey, tired, and I believe I'm getting small muscle spasms from it. VG also doesn't sit well with me-- I can't really explain it... I just get a "I don't feel quite right" feeling. My neck has also had a "tight" feeling the last few days.

It doesn't seem like many other people are having this problem but I am to the point where I am going to have to give up on the e-cigs. (Though I'm not going back to smoking --- I'll just officially snus full time).... I guess everyone is different and some people are just very sensitive to vaporizing and inhaling glycerine, pg, flavorings, etc.....

Oh, well.... what are you gonna do.

Definition: Sorry about you too. It really sucks.

I felt spacey & just morning chest tightness on PG too (per this thread) and all day chest symptoms and NO spaciness with VG, Lorann flavoring and menthol crystals. Although the PG I was using wasn't USP & the VG I tried for one day was actually USP glycerin, and not veg glycerin. So I'm giving USP PG & new VG a shot without any nicotine juice, just in case it was some kind of impurities . Maybe you can switch out the type of PG or VG you were using. It's worth a shot I guess.

Hope you can work it out.
