I am posting this with much disappointment. I developed a sore throat from smoking the e-cig,I believe. It started about 31/2 wks. of being successful at smoking them. then, I felt like the hot vapor began to hurt the back of my throat. Now it's 10 days later and my throat still feels burned. I'm going to the doctor to see what is going on. I,as the previous poster just wrote, hope that it issn;t from the e-cigs. I am so disappointed. I've spent about $250 on my stuff and can't use it. I am hoping this ,too, will pass, and I will be able to go back to my e-cigs when everything began smelling good around me ,my hair, porch, etc. I'm very happy to hear about California this a.m. I was able to send a letter to contribute to the veto and felt so good this morning when i got the news. If anyone has had a continued sore throat for several weeks, please let meknow. I'm going to a throat doctor this week and will know more. Thanks so much for the support that I received from all the very giving people from this board. peggym |

Paul, do you mean regular clove extract from groc. store? I've been vaping this am,since it doesn't seem to matter what i'm smoking, the throat thing feels like razor blades sometimes...hope that it is an extract I can rund out and get. someone told me to get some viscous lidocaine......that,too,is a number. this is such a drag...I hope i get the same news keiyla gets, for that would be better news than it being from the e-cig...I really think i burned it from chronic vaping for fist few weeks and not keeping the attys wet all the time. that thing got so hot sometimes,i could smell the burning. i'm using high volt.510,too. I think the throat thing just has to heal ,and now I know about keeping the atty very wet at all times. for anyone out there just starting, i highly recommend that. I think i can detail the exact day this happened to me,because of the burning smell and heat i felt from the atty itself...hmmmm, i took my e-cig to bed with me each night and didn't stop ,because it was working , and I wanted it to stay that way. it was such a smooth transition for me from the analog to e-cig. from the sounds of this, this is only temporary.......making app't with throat doc to check out any potential damage from burning the throat though. will let you know and thanks for the advice,Paul. I will give the clove a try. |

Several things can be the reason. Could be too high of a nicotine liquid (are you trying to vape 36mg?). Could be that you don't tolerate PG well. Try cutting your liquid by half with VG to see if your throat gets better. Or try straight VG with some flavoring to test. Some people get used to the PG later, and find they have no problems with it (like Cash did). PG bothered my throat a little for about 2 weeks. I drank tons of water and then it stopped. I do have a liquid (French Pipe) that is very smoky. Gives me a froggy voice if I use it all day. Must be one of the ingredients, as none of the rest do that. Switching e-liquid may help if you have a constant problem. There are throat sprays that you can use also. Some are made for public speakers and singers. Tis the season for allergies and colds, so that can be part of the problem. A good idea to be tested for strep throat! Salt water gargling can help heal up your throat. If you are brave, you can try this Frugal cure for a sore throat | My Financial Journey Several naturopaths recommend this. There are several recipes there down in the comments (read it all before you decide to do it!). Clove oil isn't a great idea. Oils will burn to a gunk that won't clean off on the atomizer wire. If you do use it, just dip a toothpick in the clove oil and swirl it into the liquid. Less is more with that stuff. Stoprealones is right. If you aren't using enough liquid (especially with a 510) you'll get a very harsh vapor. Clean your atty out with a good alcohol (EverClear or Vodka, don't use ISO Alcohol... if you won't drink it, don't put it in an atomizer is the rule!!) to remove any burned flavor, redrip with 3-6 drops of e-liquid (depending on your model) to reprime the atty. Should remove the harsh/burned flavor and improve your vaping and throat. Make sure you are putting one drop of liquid on a 510 atomizer bridge every time you fill the cartridge and you won't ever get the harsh/burned irritating vapor.

I use almost all VG and do not get a sore throat at all. VG is used as a skin softener so perhaps it helps in that way. I make my own liquids and the only time I have PG is when I use a pre-mix flavor as part of the total mix. (I like to add either tobacco or cappuccino flavors then the other flavors and VG). I just got some tobacco flavoring from flavourart, also the stuff from the perfumer's apprentice, so may make my own VG tobacco soon. I get a nice feeling from my e-cig. Sometimes I want a cigarette, but as soon as I hit the e-cig that feeling goes away. I am off smoking now for about a month. Good luck, Valerie |

I have been vaping on and off for over a year. I keep stopping because my throat does get irritated. Now, I was using the high nicotine cartridges. I just tried a low one today and the vapor felt way smoother to me (could be in my head though). So after reading this and some other threads, is it possible that HighNicotine=SoreThroat and that PG and VG have nothing (or little) to do with it? I just was wondering because it makes sense to me that nicotine inhaled in this fashion could bother your throat. I apologize in advance if I missed a post that suggested this. I just noticed some were mentioning this connection, but I wanted to know if this makes sense or if tests have proved otherwise. |

I've been using a PG based e-liquid for over three weeks and I had a bad sore throat for at least the first week (might've even been longer). For several days now, though, my throat has felt fine almost all day, but seems to get just a little bit irritated by late night. I also had a very acidic stomach during the bad throat times, which has improved a lot, so that along might've been the cause or at least a factor. I've been vaping mostly 18mg with a little 24mg now and then.

Vaping almost 3 mths and never had any side effects from the pg juice I've been doing , mostly 24, a little 36mgs, now suddenly this week, really sore throat going on 3 days, thought I may just be getting a mild cold, but no other symtoms, tis the season here in NE. So don't know what to do, real bummer, really annoying too. It coincide with starting a new atty (510) and using blue foam in carts. Can't figure it out, maybe my answer is a combo of these things. ![]() ....need cold beer now, swallow s-l-o-w-l-y, Ahhh. Edited to add 24 hr later... Yippie !! it's not the juice, I really am sick, that's a relief |
