Default Lungs hurt, chest tight after using first time. Any info on this?

My boyfriend has been "vaping" for about a month now. I finally decided to give it a try since I smoke 2 packs a day and have for a long time. I used the E-cig off and on for about 20 minutes. About 30 minutes after stopping my lungs hurt and my chest felt tight and I had rapid heartbeat that lasted about 2 hours! Any ideas on this? He thought he read somewhere that others may have experienced this and changed to vegetable glycerine and had no problems.

    Thanks.

Here's a link you might find helpful:

Tightness in the chest could indeed be a symptom of being sensitive to PG.

The rapid heartbeat, though, sounds more like you might be overdoing it on the nicotine. What concentration are you vaping?

Autumn--Could be wrong, but that does sound like a reaction to the PG --Give the VG a try or do not do it at all, The rapid heart beats sound troubling at best. How high was the Nicotine in the e-liquid?---Sun

It was a mix of 24 and 14. He mixed it for me. I'm sure smoking 2 packs of real cigs a day I'm getting more than that. Thanks for your replies. I think I'll switch to the VG at 11 mg

Funny thing. I know this is an old blog but Hopefully people like myself searching for answers or at least proof that they are not paranoid will see this! I have been selling Electronic cigarettes in a store that specializes in the product for about a year. I was smoking a pack a day when I started working for the company. I am now the manager and have always stood behind the product believing that it will help people quit as it did me. I have tried everything. this really works!!! BUT AT WHAT COST? that I don't know. Recently I have been having the same reactions...tightness of the chest. Pain in my chest. Even shortness of breath. I havent smoked for over five months. Only my E-CIG. People can in fact have reactions to the propylene glycol base in some liquids...BUT my company only sells a vegetable glycerol base liquid which is all I use. MY ADVISE....BE CAREFUL...Something is wrong here. Better than cigs?? YES. I believe so. OKAY to use for long stretches of time??? I DON'T recommend it. Trust me, i wanted to believe I could smoke without hurting myself too. I LOVE MY ECIG. It's hurting my lungs. I can feel it. Please hear my warning and use the e-cig to QUIT SMOKING. Then get rid of it all together. Just my opinion. A little advice from someone who truly cares. I am an expert on these things...and it's hurting my lungs...Nothing else it could be.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but saying there's nothing else it could be is simply not accurate. Many things can cause various pains anywhere in the body. I would recommend consulting a doctor before jumping to conclusions. Stopping smoking in the mean time probably is not a terrible idea though.

I find it funny your first post is to come in here and bash the long term use of PVs and give us your "expert" opion. it sounds like you want these to be a cesation device, I was under the impression they are a safer alternative.... Have you talked with your dr?? have you had scans and tests stating its the PV causing this? dont get me wrong if you think its hurting you by all means stop, but to come in here spewing your unbacked propiganda.... well it kind of hurts my feelings

And for a 1st post, to come in here and lay out unsubstanciated claims "on the whole" regarding electronic cigarettes in general based on a possible personal experience/opinion is irresponsible.

This type of statement does NOTHING but instill speculative doubt and/or fears which in turn only disrupts a forum of satisfied and non affected users (including long term users).

I respectfully disagree with your outlook or sentiments, being that yes... there have been self reported instances or individual experiences making claims or concerns that have them feeling a symptom since starting their use of a PV, however, there also "possibly" could be reasons of allegies to liquid contents, pre-existing conditions, or simply symptoms that one would experience from the withdrawls of tobacco cigarettes.

Is my observation or assumption a definative ?? Of course not... But as such, we really don't know why one person may be affected and another will not by attempting to diagnose threads or posts from a chair in front of a keyboard miles away from the one claiming them, let alone that we don't even know the other person in the least.

You've also stated you manage a store selling these products....... Perhaps you should consider reading the rules and contact an admin or moderator to notify them that you are a supplier or offline supplier. This will help you to avoid being banned by not complying with the forum's rules.
