Default Too much nicotine, and PG...?

Hello.

I would like to start out by saying that when I first started vaping, 21 days ago to be exact, I had been a 12-14 cigarettes a day smoker, so not as extreme as some of the 2 packs of day people here.

Well not really thinking about it, I ordered a 18mg, 24mg, and 36mg eliquids to vape with.

I was fine with the 18mg which I used more than the others, and sometimes the 24mg.

Well since I wasn't feeling woozy, and I didn't have massive headaches I thought I would use the 36mg one day.....

I vaped the 36mg all day. Refilling the cart maybe 3 times, so about 24 drops plus the occasional drop every hour to keep the atomizer going.

At about 9pm, I felt strange.
I couldn't concentrate my thoughts on anything, and I felt very dizzy.
I was very hot, and my head had a pressure feeling to it, not a headache though.

I managed through it, and then at 2am, I started having some pretty nasty chest pains. I took this as being serious.

I slept it off, seeing if it would go away by morning, and it didn't.

I soon discovered that my chest only hurt whenever I swallowed.

So to be safe, I went to the emergency room. Because I was having chest pains, I pretty much got ahead of the line, and was x-rayed in about 5 minutes.

After some tests and questioning, they seemed to know what was wrong.
I told them about my e-cig and what happend, I brought it with me to show them, see if they could come up with an explaination.

Turns out, the large doses of nicotine caused GERD, an acid reflex type thing, I don't know much about it.

It irritated my trachea, so everytime I swallow, it hurts. They told me that too much nicotine could easily cause this.

They gave me some pepsid pills, and some nicotine gum, lol

I was warned that if I kept using such high nic doses on my ecig, it could cause a more serious problem, and on a rare event, get cancer from it.

I did some research, and also found that PG can cause some acidic problems, but wouldn't considering that they use very little in the foods they are in.

However, we are getting a pretty high dose of PG, and it may cause some....well, acidic problems, heartburn, gerd, ect.

Nicotine and PG both.

Well, just a warning, although I'm sure all of you are aware. Just cut back on the nicotine doses, you don't need that much anyway.

I was getting about 14mg a day, and then I switched to 36mg, big difference.

I bought some 6mg juices, as well as some 0 nic juices that I might mix with the higher nic doses so I don't waste them.

I'm feeling a little better now, but still having some chest pains when I swallow, although slowly fading each day.

Stay away from high doses!!!

I had problems like that using 16 mg, so now it's only 6 or 11 mg for me.
Hope you're feeling better now!

Have two devices if you can. One loaded with no nic juice. The other with a reasonable level of nicotine. Hit the one with nicotine when you feel the need for nicotine. I am tapering off on the nicotine in the evenings and anytime I can vape without restrictions.

I've got a bit of 36 mg unflavored nic juice on order, but it will be cut 1 to 3 parts VG for a 9 mg solution.

Yes, the dizzyness and confusion I would always first assume it is due to too much nicotine, particularly if you are using high strength liquid and are a light smoker. I think problems with PG are rather rare. At the first signs of these symptoms I would recommend you should stop vaping immediately and give yourself a few hours then maybe try a much lower dose.
