Default Health effects of vapor temperature

    Hey all,

I've been thinking about this for some time. It seems to me that the "throat kick" that we all crave so much is better created by higher temperatures - the powerhouse of an e-cig that I'm using at the moment has the greatest throat kick yet - but the vapour that emerges from the cartridge is HOT.

Now, it may be that the heat is ancillary to the throat kick effect - that is, the throat kick itself might be due to the density of the vapour - but in order to create that density, the liquid must be a higher temperature. I don't know.

I also don't know anything about the medical effects of heat on our delicate internal organs, but I do remember reading an article on throat cancer and tea-drinking, which suggested that in countries such as Iran, where large quantities of hot tea are drunk, the rates are far higher.

I'm not suggesting that the vapor in e-cigs is hot enough to cause cancer, but I would have though it at least a consideration.

    Thoughts anyone?

Read recently that 70F/21C is a safe temperature for your cuppa when bearing this risk in mind.
    Hope that helps.

So add milk or cold water if needed.

SJ, I think you may be right I get a "throat kick" with a new stomizer with a USB Pt and I don't from a used atomizer and a battery. Same juice. Some times a new atomizer and a new battery will get almost as hot as the UBS pt. I perfer not to get a "throat kick". I like my vape smooth. I try to use , used atomizers on my PT.

I thought it was the nic that gave us the throat kick. hmmmm. I do know that I run on the hot 4075 atty and I buy 24 menthol juices and cut them all the way down to 8 and still get a very nice throat kick, so that's interesting.......

It might be that the throat hit isn't so much the feel of the heat itself, but the taste of vapour as opposed to fine droplets of liquid.

Well I only do menthols and mints and I do feel those types give you a better throat hit to start with because of the menthol crystals in them. I mean wow, cutting a juice from 24 to 8 mgs and still getting a decent, smooth throat hit on a 4075 atty is great IMO.

I read somewhere concerns that PG may break down at higher temperatures and the resulting gas may be carcinogenic. I am currently looking for that article.

Boston George, I think you may be mixing up PG with glycerin - at very high temperatures it can break down into acrolein, but not PG.

I think temperature has a LOT to do with the fact that e-vaping is so good (in contrast to for instance the cold-mist inhalers). The throat-hit could be a combination of certain flavors plus certain temperatures?
Anyhow, I'm all for heated vapor. Though, as all things, I would say 'don't over-do it'. Just a nice warmth (on entering the mouth - wich does mean a higher temperature at the coil of course) will work best I expect.
