Id like to know how they become byproducts. Do our bodies break down the nicotine or does the hot gas in a cig do it?

Interesting, I did a bit of research and discovered that Cotinine is a metabolized by product of Nicotine (Your body makes it) BUT, NNAL seems to be a "Metabolized product from Nicotine due to the curing process of tobacco".

So, the question is, does the NNAL make it into the extracted nicotine solution that were are using? I did find that it is considered a nitrosamine but I did not get that from Cotinine.

Now based on the FDA report, and the fact that other NRTs are out there, I would say that if NNAL is in the extract, it is trace amounts.

I can't get a good answer to NNAL and Nicotine extract because all of the studies are around smoking and chew.
