I do hope you are seeing a Dr. I was a heavy smoker for over 40 years and my Dr told me I had the start of COPD and emph. I have been vaping since June. I went to the Dr yesterday and he is so amazed at how much better my lungs sound. Did I really have lung disease?? Or was my Dr trying to scare me into quiting, I have no idea. I do know I feel better, no more wheezing, coughing sessions. I get up in the morning with no coughing and gaging. At first I did cough up all the junk from my lungs. That is common when you stop smoking.
I hope you start feeling better soon.

A new story today is very appropriate for this thread, given what trials have revealed about PG's killing of bacteria in the lungs:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Many people who have died of H1N1 swine flu in the United States have also had bacterial infections, health officials reported on Wednesday.

A study of 77 patients who died of the new pandemic H1N1 virus showed 29 percent of them had so called bacterial co-infections, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported.

About half of these had Streptococcus pneumoniae, which can be prevented with a vaccine, the CDC said. It said doctors may be missing these infections in people severely ill with flu.

"The findings in this report indicate that, as during previous influenza pandemics, bacterial pneumonia is contributing to deaths associated with pandemic H1N1," the team of experts at the CDC and state health departments reported

interesting "From previous clinical trials with aerosolized CsA propylene
glycol (CsA-PG), it has been concluded that a CsA-PG
peripheral lung deposition of approximately 5 mg or higher
would be beneficial in preservation of lung function..."

This is odd because when I get sick like this these symptoms tend to last 4 - 7 days without treatment. So while this could be totally my own bodys doing I would just like to thow it out there. Also I'd like to say I"ve only been sick twice this year compared to the usual 5-6 times.
Sounds like an improvement knife. I'm no doctor, but my mother tends to get a lot of infections in her lungs due to COPD and I do know that when she has an infection in there her mucous is green. Please see your doctor if it stays green. That IS a sign of infection.

LOL, "so called co-bacteria". Maybe they should ban the term "so called" from the media. Don't they realize what that implies when they use it?

As a former reporter, I'd vote to ban so-called, person of interest, reportedly and a whole dictionary of other words that only show ignorance of facts by those who report.

Report what is known. And there's no "so-called" impact of PG on pneumonia bacteria. The impact is known and proven.

Hey TropicalBob. I'm a new vaper. Just got a cheap make to try on Tues. and my 510 arrived yesterday. You seem to be the resident researcher on this forum, so I thought I'd share my experience with you. About a year ago I was diagnosed with Emphasema. I'm on 3 different Inhalers.

You know what's really special? When I got up yesterday, after only starting ecigs on Tuesday, I had to "remember" to take my puffers. Didn't feel like I really needed them. That never happened before. Usually I get up and hack and cough to try to get the flem out so I can breath properly. I have to take the puffers to get my bronchials open enough to do that and even then it doesn't all clear out. This is like a miracle. I read the reports from you and the New Zealand test results about PG, but I'm thinking there is more to it. People are posting about COPD, Asthma and other breathing problems that have gotten better since vaping, so that's more than just antibacterial. Emphasema isn't a bacteria or germ, so how come I breath so much better? There's something else going on here obviously. And it works so fast. I noticed a big difference after only one day and that was with the cheap crappy one I got from China. I was hoping that my breathing might improve after reading some of the posts on this forum about people having big improvements in their lung function, but I never expected anything as dramatic as this. I breath so much better already and I can actually take a deep breath. Something I hadn't been able to do much in quit a long time. I always have a lot of muscus and flem that collects in my bronchial and it gets difficult to breath. This tells me it's time for my puffers. I had to take the bronchial dilator every 4 hours. Now, I'm forgetting to take my puffers. The flem and mucous seems to be gone. I don't understand it, but I sure am happy about that. I thought you might be intersted TB.

Default It's flu season, how are we all doing?

I thought that with the advent of the flu season it would be a good idea to keep bumping this thread so as to keep the benefits of vaping foremost in our minds. I started vaping in March and normally by now I would have had some kind of respiratory illness at least once since then. So far, I'm good! Colds and flu have come and gone in my household and at work and in the past being a smoker would have put me at the front of the line to get sick too but I haven't. It's so galling to believe that we have found a simple remedy (can't say c***) for one of the worlds dread diseases and it isn't recognized as such by any government or health organization. We just have to spread the word ourselves people! I think I will get some PG just to have on hand so my family can vape next time they get sick.
