Anyone have less acid reflux?
I have been vaping for just over a month. (smoked pack+/per day of analogs for 40 years prior to April 09) About 5 years ago I was diagnosed with acid reflux (mild) and was told by the doctor to use the OTC Prilosec, which I have been using most every morning.
Since I started vaping, I inadvertently found I was not taking it in the morning, (almost a week now) and oddly I haven't had any any acid reflux. Just wondering if anyone who has been vaping for a while has noticed, or thinks that quitting analogs, and starting to vape may have noticed less reflux, or even zero reflux since starting to vape? I will consult my doctor..., but was just curious if anyone had noticed reduction in need for prilosec or the likes? Thanks

I too have stopped been sick in the morning and I can even drink coffee without throwing up.
Great stuff.

I have the opposite effect. Vaping, especially high makes it worse, up to dry heaves...
There is another post that discussed switching to a lower nic level a few hours before bedtime, I don't have the link but its here somewhere.
If it helps u I am glad to hear it. There was a bigger thread on Heartburn u ought to check out, u would have to search 4 the link.
Keep Vapin!

Never had it in the first place. Been vaping since Nov 08. No problems at all.

I noticed the same re: reflux. But, I thought it was just a coincedence. At times, if I eat too much spicy/greasy foods I still get it just not as often.
I also do NOT have the dry-hacking-cough in the mornings.
My wife tells me I'm not snoring as much compared to 3 weeks ago.
Don't mean to be gross or to offend anyone, but, another thing is my "buggies" are different too - seriously - uh, THATS a good thing.

very interesting thread...i also have pretty bad acid and indigestion problems, but i don't know if i can say that vaping has helped, but i think i can say that NOT SMOKING has helped. just doing brief searches about it, normal smoking is one of the many things that does cause heartburn and indigestion issues.
so while i'd love to say that the vaping is helping you, i'd probably say it's the "not smoking" that's helping you
either way though, lets hope it continues!
also...OTC Prilosec SUCKS. none of the OTC stuff even helps me, and even the prescription stuff doesn't always help. honestly you could likely get a prescription for a much better medicine and much cheaper, if you have insurance at least.

I've not been diagnosed with reflux, but I do have some pretty severe heartburn....
I find that if I vape mid-strength nic solutions at night before bed, I have more heartburn. If I vape low to no, I have less.
Nicotine does have some adverse effects on the digestive track and aggravates an already tender esophagus.....
When I was still smoking, one of my heartburn triggers was the cigs.....part of my lifestyle changes to combat heartburn was to have no cigs within an hour of bedtime.
I find that the lower strength nic liquids let me get around that stricture, and there's nothing more satisfying than that last couple of puffs before I turn out the light.

Hi everyone, sorry to take so long in thanking you, I have been out-and-about all day. I appreciate all of the great input. I didn't think to search heartburn, just searched on the reflux, oops.
Thanks Cellmeister for your advice on the lower mg before bedtime, that's a great thought, and will search on heartburn too, thank you.
Thanks Fitzanu about the advice on better meds., I often wondered it the prilosec was really doing a decent job, I thought probably not.. I will have to check that out too, I really should get a scope just to see what really going on after all these years, and what's up with it now.
Hey Hooyah, thanks for your input too. My morning cough (which had been terrible) went away after 2-3 days, (not sure about my snoring though, cause I'm asleep, hope that's eased up some so my poor dog can get some sleep!)
Vicks and Pepper - thanks for the advice on the lower mg before bedtime too, and spicy foods. Funny thing was I posted this question early this morning (I had spaghetti out to dinner last night) when I got home after being out all day, about 9pm I noticed heartburn ever so slightly (hmmm) so the fact I ate out, and the sauce was spicy might have been the trigger..and just finally caught up with me. (after I posted this, go figure, LoL !!)
Thanks to all, great advice and nice to hear what others have experienced. Will also search the heartburn threads too.
Appreciate it. Thanks.

Hi Brooksie,
I Just Noticed You Stated You Snore. Snoring Is That You Are Gasping For Air. Heart Burn / GERD Is Directly Related To Sleep Apnea (Snoring = Obstructed Air Way or other). Snoring Is A Symptom Of This, Besides Being Tired During The Day or Foggy.
This Is Extremely Common & Should Be Checked.
You Should See Your Doctor, Sleep Apnea Is Serious. I Found Out The Hard Way, But Its An Easy Correction.
The Lower Nic Before Bed Really Helps, Better if For 2 -3 Hours Before Bed You Cut The Nic.
Hope That Helps.
