Unhappy Too painfull to vape, hope I have a cold

I have not vaped in over two days now. About a week ago my throat started to hurt a little bit in the morning. Then I noticed more through out the day. I then felt it hurt in my bronchial tubes and developed a small cough. At this point I decided to put down my ecig. I do not know if my ecig (and/or PG) is the source of the irritation, I just know it hurts too much. I have been a serious nicotine addict for 16 years now (almost three months now with an ecig). I have smoked through many tough colds in the past, vaping through this is not an option. Unfortunately I have had a few analogs the past few days to fulfill my cravings. They hurt alot less. Obviously the smart thing to do would be to not smoke or vape until this clears up, but if my past is any indication I am sure I will have the occasional analog. I just hope that once it does clear up, I can vape again. I much prefer vaping to analogs at this point. I also hope that I can continue to use PG. I have about 500ml of it.

May wanna just go pick up some straight VG from a craft store, wal-mart, etc and see if that feels any better -- would at least give ya a frame of reference to see if its the PG.

My bronchial tubes are pretty shot at this point. I have some vg coming in the mail. I don't think/hope it is not PG. Only time will tell. If I had more will power I would not smoke or vape until I felt better. Then I would wait a week and see which eliquid treated me better. Unfortunately I am a nicotine addict. So I will try to vape as soon as I can and see how this affects me. I hope that I am not the only addict on the forum that may read this. I expected the first post to this to go something like this:

You have a cold. Get over it. It is not PG or your ecig. If you were smart you would just not use ecigs or analogs. Maybe try nicotine gum/the patch.

    or

PG is awful. I get throat problems if I drip half of a drop. I am a man, yet my vagina hurts if i type PG...ouch!

In my perfect world I would never get sick and be able to vape PG through my awesome mod. Yet this world is imperfect.

I am glad that this world is imperfect. I would be curious if anyone has had a very similar experience. If your throat got a little itched a bit or got sore after using PG for a week or two...find another thread. If you want to preach about how bad PG or VG is...find another thread. If you hurt at all after a week or two...**** off. Cheers.

P.S. How uptight are the mods on swearing. I hope not too much. After all you must be 18 to buy nicotine products.

    Default Hi Drum

    Hi Drum

have you changed to menthol just lately,
some have reported problems with it.

Anglvapin had a similar problem just recently,
sore throat couldnt vape, she stopped the menthol,
switched to VG and it seems to be better for her.

Try 5mls VG + 5mls any food flavour
just to see if it helps.....
the VG is soothing for the throat,
the food flavour gives it a nice taste...
if that helps, then just vape with VG
or a 50/50 mix of PG / VG

    hope this helps....

You know, I have seasonal allergies and I've been vaping since last August so this is my first spring vaping.

I have to say that when I vaped I had a lot less gunk in my throat in the morning but lately (and I'm attributing this to allergies) it's been worse. I don't know if PG and allergies are a bad combination for me or not. I decided to just chew only nicotine gum yesterday and no vaping. I had significantly less coughing this morning.

I REALLY hope these allergies pass because I miss vaping constantly.

perhaps I will switch to VG though it's difficult finding a steady supplier of VG eliquid.
The world will look up and shout "Save us!"... And I'll whisper "No."

Once I was on a trip and ran out of cigarettes. I bought a couple packs, not my regular brand, from the closest place to my hotel. Flight back I was already getting a sore throat. Attributed it to the different cigs. Three days after my return and I couldn't eat, sleep and it was interfering with my smoking.

Went to doctor and she said I had a throat infection. She couldn't believe I was even able to talk. I had to take antibiotics to clear it up. She didn't think it was from the different cigs, of course I never bought that brand again.

There is also strep to consider. Lots of things out there that you may not be able to get cleared up by yourself. If it's really bad, not getting better, consider a trip to your doctor or at least to a lab for a strep test. If you call around there are labs where you can get a strep test for like $10-$15.

There is also a tea, sorry don't remember the brand name, but I know it's called Throat Coat. It really feels like it numbs/coats the whole way down. Like the sore throat spray, just goes farther down. If that and ibuprofen can't get you at least temporary relief then it's likely more of an infection situation than irritation from PG. Especially since you're 3mnths in already.

Umcka ColdCare by NaturesWay. It is fantastic stuff... whether you believe in homeopathic or not... I use it on the rare occasion I have a cold and it works! I had strep awhile back... so sick I had to call my mom. No antibiotics and only this and I was good to go.

OMG, now that I read the bottle, I could vape it! HA!

Acive Ingredient: Pelargonium sidoides 1x Tincture. Inactive: purified water and VG! There you go! LOL.

Maybe you SHOULD vape it. If our practice is allowed to evolve, we should see some savvy companies offering liquids like that one.

Thank you all for your insight. I have been pounding different herbal teas with some honey for relief. Unfortunately I am more concerned with my bronchial tubes. I had about five analogs yesterday. That is not helping. I have nicotine gum. I don't find it nearly as satisfying, but today that is all I will have (maybe just one or two smokes). I can't believe that no matter how sick I get, I still need my nicotine. I always knew it was crazy and stupid, but writing about it makes me realize it more. I just want to heal so that I can continue on with my destructive ways. The idea of ecigs was to lead a healthier life. I hope that I can resume them. I still believe they can help me in the long run.
