It's this type of information that will continue to turn people against vaping.
I totally agree with this. But I also understand that, as vaping is a new activity to so many people, there is a tendency to associate any bodily change with the new activity - whether rightly so or not. To complicate matters, many people are quitting analogs in the process which adds so many other changes to the mix. When Rusty says:

It could very well be a mix of brain chemistry adjusting quitting analogs and a jolt of extra nicotine from skin contact with e-liquid rather than a direct result of skin contact with nicotine.

It might seem there's alot of "bad reactions" in these threads but they're really mostly questions and coincidental occurrences rather than anything else. What I hate seeing even more (and think is worse) are the people doing video reviews who hack and cough during their presentation. That just looks bad.

It's unbelievable to me to think of a pharmacist saying these have such bad side effects that they wouldn't recommend them. Have they checked the PDR (Physicians Desk Reference) for drugs they regularly dispense? I've been prescribed things that have 2 pages of horrible side effects (death and black tongue being the scariest). I think she may have been more worried about loss of income from the smoking cessation stuff she sells. None of it works for more than 5% of people and most people who try it go thru a lot of the different products and use them for months and months (sometimes years). At the same time most of the pharmacies that see the patch, gum, mints etc also sell cigarettes. None of which they will be able to sell to anyone who switches to e-cigs.

Stopping smoking in itself has some undesirable effects while your body heals. My gums bleed all the time when I brush my teeth (never happened before I quit), my digestive system is all to hell but I feel 1000% healthier .
Anyway.. I've become fairly sensitive to nicotine since I'm no longer getting it in the quantities when I used to smoke and I think some of the things described are as a result of sensitivity to nicotine, that high you get when you stop smoking for a day and have a cig I think is the same as when we overdo our lower nicotine intakes and the fact that our bodies are going through the trauma of no longer having the other 4000 chemicals also adds to those feelings.

I was really bothered at first about nicotine but after you've hand your hands covered in the stuff from filling carts and stuff for a while with no ill effects you stop worrying.

my post wasn't meant as a scared tactic ...

i really did spill a large amount on my hand months ago, and was laying in the middle of the floor with my heart beating 100 mph and me scared .....less .... don't believe me, as the wifey ... she'll tell ya!

Small amounts are no big deal. we all swallow plenty, but large amounts (Even dosed down -- <5%) can be scary.

P.S. = My PM Mailbox gets really full, really fast, so bear with me if it takes me a few days to get to your PM :) Don't forget, you can always contact us at info@puresmoker.com :)

You are correct, usually a small amt absorded that we get on our hands won't do much, but I am pretty sure for anyone a large amt of nictone on the skin( also depending on the situation) whether your pores are open, sometimes due to sweating and empty stomach, lack of hydration sometimes activity with dilation of the vessels can cause quicker absorption into the skin and cause the reaction you had. It all depends on the situations presented at the time.

Theres no study on absorption rates of Nicotine through skin or Inhalition? It just seems to me that your lungs would be more reseptive to absorbing nicotine vs your hand or arm....So of use on this forum vape 5ml of 24mg liquid in a day(120mg's)....i would think you would absorb more in a 24hr period through your lungs then 2 minutes on your skin

    Default overdose symptoms

I just got some 12mg juice yesterday and filled some carts and vaped some of it while I was filling carts, I did not wear gloves and did get some on my fingertips, I did wipe off as I went along but wasn't but a few drops. Anyway within a hour my throat started hurting, got a severe headache, stomach kinda hurt, felt buzzed and weird, chest tightened for a little while, eyes hurt. It has been a day and still feel strange but headache is subsiding as long as I do not vape. I think this juice is much higher than 12mg. has anyone had reactions like this before and how long till symptoms go away. the juice was very strong and really kicked my butt, not fun.

This was my original post. It wasn't meant to freak anyone out, just to educate me. Many of you have so thank you very much. On a side note, I have gotten bits on my fingers, mouth, lips and so far no reactions at all. Slight through dryness or anything like that I know is from vaping. Specifically vaping PG. So maybe I am lucky, or maybe I haven't gotten enough on my skin. Not going to test it, just glad I am lucky.

All my post was originally about is why we are not afraid to get this fluid in our lungs.

By the way, am I supposed to wear gloves when filling?

I wore gloves at first but if I'm just topping off or filling a cart or two with 10ml or 15ml bottles I don't bother. I only have 11 to 18mg liquid so don't see that as a lot in a smaller bottle.

I did refill 10 of my dad's cigar carts all at once using 30ml bottles and wore gloves just in case of a large accident. Those carts do hold a lot. And if I was mixing DYI liquid I totally would. I just don't know how my body would react to a large liquid spill and don't want to find out!
