Something you might want to try and source is a product called "GC Tooth Mousse" from Recaldent. It's usually only available through your dentist (not available in supermarkets or pharmacies as far as I know), but I've found it a few times up on eBay. I used to work as a dental nurse a few years ago and got hooked on this stuff. For me, it's more beneficial than mouthwash.
What is it for? A whole range of oral issues. If you have active decay in your mouth, sensitive teeth, erosion or tooth wear from grinding or brushing too hard, if you suffer from dry mouth, have an acidic oral environment from too much sugar and soft drinks, if you are undertaking orthodontic treatment, have white spot lesions, and if you are undertaking tooth whitening procedures. *giggles* The list goes on and on.
Fluoride in toothpaste creates a film on your teeth to protect them from decay. Tooth moouse works in a slightly different way, and has to be left in contact with effected areas and shouldn't be rinsed off. The active ingredients in tooth mousse (bio-available calcium and phosphate) re-mineralizes enamel and encourage saliva flow. It will bind to plaque and soft tissue and continue to leech *good stuff* in to your mouth long after you think it's gone.
You should still continue brushing and flossing as normal, this isn't a substitue for good oral hygine. Tooth mousse is more a once every couple of days thing for me, more if I need it. It tastes nice too! Very creamy, a bit like medicinal melted ice-cream.
This is a milk-derived product, so anyone who is lactose intolerant or has any sort of dairy issues should stear clear.
It's not a miracle cure for dry mouth and cavities but it's certainly worth looking in to. Your mileage may vary.![]()
Here is the Tooth Mousse stuff. I just googled it and found this site. DentalShop
Glad everything went well, I too have a history of anxiety and do not do well at the dentist so I understand your concerns! Even a simple cleaning makes my knuckes go white on the arms of the chair and it doesn't even hurt.
I have sensitive teeth so don't want any further sensitivity or decay, I'll have to seriously start upping my fluids since I do get some dry mouth. I like to drink caffeinated pop but I really better switch to water.
To be forgiven is divine...![]()
Tooth mousse is available on amazon cheaper, by the looks..it's been some years since I tried a wash from my dentist..did my teeth no good..can't hurt to try something new.
I havent noticed any dry mouth from using the pg, but one thing I have noticed is that it makes my breath smell bad.
Dont quote me on this, but I have read somewhere that they use sugar to flavor some of the e-liquids out there. So think about that, we are bathing our teeth in sugar every time we take a puff. If that is the case, I might as well soak my teeth in coca cola. still not giving up vaping though, just thought i would try to inform others and let them research it and make up their own minds.
And you people talking about fluoride, please stay away from that poison, it will kill you or damage your brain. Stay away from aspartame and msg while youre at it. some free advice
Phew, glad I don't have to pay you for the advice.I'll just add those items to the long list of other things that will kill me/rot my brain/make me to bad things I don't remember the next day.
Honestly tho, maybe using flouride would help with the bad breath issue? I haven't had any bad breath issues. Actually, since I don't smoke analogs anymore I think my breath is much improved.
From what I've read, the juice doesn't have any sugar. And I believe most DIYers use sugar-free flavorings. I've read on the forum that sugar would clog the atty. So I won't quote you but I think you might be off the mark on that one.
Oh, and on the sugar issue I'll also note that there are several diabetics on the forum who have reported no noticeable increase in blood sugar from vaping. And some of us are chain vapers. :-)
I had to take some anticholinergics for a few months a couple years back. That caused the worse dry mouth I'd ever had! In any case, my dentist recommended chewing Trident (or, in fact, any chewing gum with xylitol as the sweetener) since it reduces risk of cavities and can offset the effects of the dry mouth.
one of the main reasons i went to ecigs is cause of my teeth. i just had 2 dental implants put in and thought it would heal faster w/o smoking analogues... i hope this dont mess up the pins that just got put in. they are expensive, and i get the teeth put on the posts in november....i hope.
