Here's my info and situation, hope someone can help. Quit smoking tobacco based cigarettes on March 10th after discovering an nJOY product on Costco.com. Like others, purchased a slew of other products after discovering this site. And here's been my experience, I'll vape for a few weeks, everything seems good. Then suddenly juice quits tasting "right", I start hacking and wheezing after every hit. Cut back, clean out equipment etc. then after a few days, for no apparent reason, everythings good again. Cycle repeats. Most recently I purchased some product which I cut down myself using PG (36 mg nic), hack and cough worse than ever (with almost a metallic like taste to the cough). Cough goes away in a few minutes (ten) mind you after just a few drags. But I also hear a wheeze in my lungs afterwards... Which also goes away after a bit. The cough is almost immediate after the inhale (maybe more of a throat cough then from the lungs?) Could I have a mild PG allergy? Should I switch to VG, has anyone out there had a similiar experience, it was the coming and going of the cough that has had me stymied, this week since cutting myself however, the cough has been quite persistent. Any advice, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, John |

I don't have a PG allergy myself, however I have read on the forum that some folks report it does not always show up right away. Here's a thread to check out, there's some links in the last post. You can always try some VG based liquid to see if the issue disappears. Best of luck! Allergy?

I would definetely try some VG based liquid. It is hard to isolate the problem without first trying another base. I personally have issues with VG - Gives me a sore throat. Others have PG issues. Perhaps try a non flavored VG. Then add in a flavored variety later to rule out allergy to flavoring. Quote:

Honestly? From what I've seen PG allergies are pretty friggin obvious pretty friggin early. What's more likely is it's just your body rebelling from tobacco withdraw. I get it bad. I'm 2+ months into mine. I actually had a Saturday where I ran a 100 fever all day, and I knew exactly what it was because I went through this when I quit with Swedish Snus a year or so ago. Withdraw symptoms will make you think there's something wrong with inhaling atomized PG flavored nicotine. If you really feel you have a valid health concern, please see a doctor. But it's likely it's just your body pissed it's not getting a few of those 2,000 chemicals you don't get with e-cigs. Hope This Helps |

I am a new vaper and have noticed from the beginning that the vaper tickles my throat and makes me want to cough. I know it's not from tobacco withdrawals as and I'm hoping it's just that I have to get used to the new substance. Maybe I'll try the VG too and see if that helps.

... all for responding. I was hoping to hear from someone who had the same issue and found a way around it. I know its not withdrawal symptoms. Its been over four months, and I havent desired a cigarette for at least 14 weeks.....(and still dont) This morning, I picked up my 901 after letting it sit for a day and a half. Everything seemed ok, little rough at first, but then good. Now its the end of the day (early evening) and I can hear the wheeze in my breath, just a little, and its hitting hard and giving me a cough right after inhale. Its just weird, I cant figure it out, if anyone else has an idea I'd love to hear it. I've seen a few people post with similar issues, just no answers..... |

Hi Jerssf It can also be the flavor you are vaping?I've stopped vaping any dark colored flavor as did get the wheezing over time.(ie.chocolate, caramel, etc..) I'm also very very careful with menthol too..as that aggravates as well if too much! I'm into DIY ejuice so I mix with PG/VG as PG alone gave me a dry throat and cough so I add 25% VG to my mixes to "soften" and get rid of the cough.. |

Misty, thanks for the response. I've been using 555 almost exclusively for awhile now, though I did try some Johnsons creek, which didnt seem to make a difference. I think tomorrow I'll pick up some vg and try cutting this up a bit. I'm thinking maybe pg is drying my throat out which is causing the cough, I noticed it seems much worse since its gotten hotter here and the air is on all the time (making it even drier)..... I'll try adding some vg and report back here. |

Hi Jesrf, I've been having an issue exactly as you describe recently. It comes and goes without reason. I haven't had an analog since 4/13/09 so a little less time than you but close. I almost went to the ER the other day because a friend of mine said it might be asthma which I've never had before. A few people I know developed it late in life. A few friends that have it also said this year is really bad for it (at least here in the northeast). I was thinking the same thing as you...PG allergy??? I've been using a KR808D-1 and haven't been refilling. I've used different carts, different flavors, different levels of nic. It's really weird. I'll let you know if I figure it out and will watch this thread for updates. (I did go buy an over the counter inhaler just in case since I didn't have time to go to the Dr's yet and it wasn't quite THAT bad except that one day when my Dr's office was closed). |

PLSChows, thanks for your feedback on this. I was beginning to think I was losing my mind. About two weeks ago, someone actually said to me "you gotta quit smoking" because I was hacking away. It went away that same day, I thought it was just from working in a dry building with the air on and a lot of dust being kicked up because we're moving out of there. Now this week (two weeks later) its back. After feeling great all last week. I'll update here as well if I can figure it out. thanks, John |
