It could very well be allergy.

Last summer (and at that time I wasn't vaping or using nicotine at all actually), I ended up having a sudden vision change with irritated eyes. But I recall focusing on anything taking *forever* and my eye prescription no longer worked right. It was sort of a panicky moment, so I went to the eye doctor - she confirmed my vision seemed to change but didn't see anything else wrong, and she noted my eyes were even dryer than usual (I use two eyedrops - one [Patanol] for allergies and one [Restasis] for tear production). She prescribed me a temporary stronger allergy eyedrop (don't remember the name), and a few days later, literally overnight (went to bed one night and woke up the next day), it went away and my vision returned to normal. I discontinued use of the stronger drops (ok'd by her) and things have remained fine.

So sometimes weird things happen, and she chalked it up to allergies as it was during a bad allergy season, but I still don't know the root cause.

Might be the e-liquid ingredients vaped set off yours. But yes, I agree with the others - talk to your eye doctor and don't panic too much - everything might return to normal, but I'd still certainly work with a professional on it and not ignore it either. If you find the PG e-liquid *is* the cause when you get your 0 nic stuff, maybe you could try VG?

Best of luck and hope you work it out soon!

Exactly, it could be a LOT of things. My point is - we are NOT DOCTORS.

If someone is having a problem they should see their doctor rather than losing precious time asking amateurs.

Shortly after I started vaping, I developed 'floaters' or spots in my right eye. There is no cure - they will always be there. My vision is blurry and spotty and is not going to get any better. I did go to my eye doctor and had an exam. He sent me to a retina specialist to make sure I had no retinal damage.

Here is the full story - the 'floaters' appeared just after getting off an airplane that brought me from NJ to Florida. I was in a panic. When it did not clear up after a good night's sleep and a shower, I called the my Doctor in NJ and made an appointment for the day I would be returning to NJ. I told him everything. Guess what? My Doctor said the exact thing happened to him years ago, also after getting off of an airplane.

Vaping had nothing to do with it. I never thought it did. I was scared but I let my Doctor decide. If he thought it was even remotely related to vaping, I would have put everything in the garbage and never looked back. He congratulated me and told me to keep up the good work.

Wow - I wasn't expecting such varied responses!

I hadn't considered the allergy angle, so thanks to Sgupta and others who suggested it. It's definitely worth exploring, so I've just ordered some low nico VG liquid and will be seeing an optician next week. Hopefully, all will be resolved soon. Thanks also to Wormwood for the supportive comments. Whilst most folk here seem to be both friendly and helpful, I do appear to have rattled a couple of cages!

Back in June, I quit smoking and began vaping. Both have significant chemical consequences and as a result, I feel totally justified in placing them high on the suspects list for causing my recent eyesight problem. Had I instead, significantly altered my diet, I would be trawling a nutrition forum. I certainly didn't come here seeking conclusive medical advice, although I'm very grateful for the numerous helpful suggestions and support. I simply asked if anyone had experienced similar symptoms to me. Something from which I can gain some perspective.

In posting, I hoped for (and welcomed) varied suggestions and advice, I really didn't expect to be rudely accused of talking BS and providing weapons for a government agency! This thread is in a section devoted to health and safety issues with regards to vaping. Many other members have reported a huge variety of symptoms without being leapt upon. Surely, we should feel free to discuss any potentially related health issues regardless of how serious they are?

Anyway, apologies for the counter-rant and thanks again for the support.

Jim let us know what the doc says. We are all in this together with a relatively new technology. I don't think anyone was accusing you for asking. I took it as wanting to know if anyone had similar experiences. If you are using PG switch to VG, it may help. However, I hope that your eyesight issue is not related to vaping. Luckily my eyesight started to get suddenly blurry BEFORE I started vaping. On one eye exam, when I complained of blurriness, my doctor said 'Well you must have had the vision of an eagle before cause you still have above average eyesight'. One the second eye exam a year later, my doctor said, 'Its called age'.....lol.

Take care of yourself and please post your results.

If everyone's really THAT concerned about the FDA seeing anything on this health and safety forum, why not make it only accessible by members?

I do the same Zip, if I or someone I know has a health problem they are living with (non emergency) Ill check it out online and even ask a couple online resources to find out how serious it might be. I am currently a student, with new crappy delivery job, I have no health insurance yet (just moved here). Coincidentally I am trying to find out a problem I've had that started last year with my eyes. Got a problem where if i just wake up and am rushed and noticed it sometimes happens when i am stressed out in an argument I go cross eyed almost. I cant figure out which eye it is. If i cover one eye i see, focus and concentrate just fine. Something scary that I've been experiencing a couple times in this last year. I am just praying I land a decent enough job so i dont go in debt as soon as i get it checked out. Even though i already am in debt =\
Spared my life! I never want to go back to Analogues.

I got worried and went to the eye doctor.... Turns out, my vision was blurred from reading the forum so much to learn about e-cigs! I was reading so much that when I looked away from the computer.. everything was blurry! He prescribed some totally unsexy computer reading glasses!
Vision has been fine ever since. True story!
I have that too!!!! Too much computer reading!
To top it off, vaping does dry my eyes out sometimes, esp with the non stop air conditioning. I used to go outside to smoke in the humidity of Florida. Now I don't so I can feel the difference, esp at work

Jim, no matter what it is, thanks for sharing. We should all feel free to share any info, symptoms, etc here. As we are all still learning.
Like I said before, my eyes got worse when I started vaping because I stopped getting "rehydrated" from the humidity outside when I'd go out to smoke, it's really bad at work where it's real dry from the ac. And now I'm on the computer all the time and getting some more eye strain from it.
I think you're doing the right thing by cutting back on nicotine for now and seeing your doc.

I've had the same symptom, but only very temporarily. It's almost like double vision. This is off of 8mg, puffed infrequently.

That would be nice, but how can you decide who is FDA who when registering? For all you know, I could be working for the FDA!
