Asthma attack
I had an asthma attack last Saturday, the first one I've had, and very nearly died. A couple of days earlier I got a little tight chested when exercising, which was unusual, then I developed a sore throat the next day, which led to sneezing and a runny nose, then by the Friday I was quite chesty and coughing up a bit of mucus. It just seemed to be a standard cold or 'flu, I was still vaping and feeling fine but did notice more tightness in my chest than usual. I started coughing and then my chest seemed to spasm, I was breathing really hard but it felt like I wasn't getting any air. I used my asthma inhaler but it didn't help. I thought maybe I was having a panic attack and tried breathing into a bag and regulating my breathing but by this stage I was getting delirious. My wife called an ambulance which thankfully arrived quickly, the paramedic ran into the house and shoved a nebulizer on my face and immediately I could breath again. I had gone blue around the mouth and had been in imminent danger of respiratory arrest.
After a week of antibiotics, steroids and using my own nebulizer which I have now purchased, I feel fine and am happily though cautiously vaping again.

+-R18030 spent on e-cigarettes, liquid and paraphernalia: saved plenty bucks and feeling fine!

Thats pretty scary. I'm so glad you're feeling better now. My sister has asthma, since she was three. She too scared us many many times. Hope you don't go through that again. Keep your nebulizer with you at all times and don't hesitate to go to the emergency room if you feel yourself getting sick.

I just started using tobacco about a month ago. I'm 22. Pretty much what it came down to was that I started working at a gas station about 3 months ago and being surrounded by so many different dips, chews, snuffs, cigarettes that I just had to try them myself haha. I started with Camel SNUS, then went to skoal, then I bought a carton of Djarum Blacks online (which I can smoke unlike and other cigarette for some reason) then I started using grizzly dip. What's more or less funny is that when I started I couldn't dip more than 5 minutes or smoke more than half a cigarette without getting the spins and nauseous for nearly 12 hours haha. Now I can smoke and dip at the same time with no ill effects.
The reason I'm posting here though is that I also have asthma and noticed that after smoking about a pack every 2 days for 2 weeks that I started tightening up in the chest. I don't have medical insurance so I tried using some old (2 years expired but still sealed) albuterol sulfate in my nebulizer which slightly helped. So then I tried my Inhaler but those new non-cfc ones apparently aren't as stong as I had to do 10-15 puffs to get the same loosened lungs feeling I got from only 2-4 of the old ones. Anyhow I came across e-cigs on wikipedia and low and behold I received my VX2 today in the hopes that I can still get that sweet nicotine rush that I love without the asthma problems. I'll update as I use it.
I remember when I was younger that my asthma would often accompany illness and during the fall it would flare up too. I remember going to bed at night coming to peace that I was going to die in my sleep haha. Obviously I never did.
I'm glad you're alright Gavin.

Do you vape with PG or VG?
Do you frequently sterilize atty with PGA, hydrogen peroxide, etc.?
Have you tried 0 mg juice mixed with PGA?

Dude, it's none of my business, but I have to say this: get *off* the damned stuff!!! It's only been a month, maybe it's not too late. I'd give *anything* to turn back the clock. I started at 17. I'm 48 now. I almost killed myself trying to quit several times. It's *evil*.
I saw two people die from lung cancer, and one from other complications from inhaling and using tobacco. It's ugly. You don't want to go that way. Every time I get a cold, I end up in the hospital with bronchitis - and that's not pretty either.
Quit and get out while you still can.
If you have to have something in your mouth, get a Popsicle.

Thank you for your words of wisdom Briar. I'll do my best, it's just a really good getaway from the bottle. It also helps with the stress, but it also helps to hear of what happens after years of addiction. Your words didn't fall on deaf ears.
