I'm at about the week-and-a-half mark, and I've noticed only a few symptoms. Mainly sore throat, dehydration, and night sweats. The sore throat went away after a couple days, so I put that down to my body getting used to vaping. Haven't had it since, except for about 15 seconds here and there after taking a good monster hit. :P The dehydration kicked in after about 4 or 5 days, because at that point I was still only drinking as much water as I always have. Remedied that by drinking more (read: TONS!) of water. Now, if I'm not sleeping or vaping, I'm probably drinking another glass of water. In itself, that's probably actually a good side effect, hehe. The only thing that's stuck around are the night sweats, however I only seem to get them every other night or so. They aren't horribly major, but enough to make me slightly uncomfortable when I wake up, lol. I put this down to a slight PG intolerance, but it's not severe enough to make me switch to VG-only just yet. Too many good flavors I'd be missing out on, and I don't trust myself enough on the DIY stuff. If it's gets too unbearable, I'll consider it, but for now it's just not at that point. As for the good: I'm already feeling my breathing improve, my pulse has slowed considerably, and I don't get winded walking up a flight of stairs anymore. In fact, in a couple weeks I may be ready for a marathon or two! (Just kidding, but man is it nice to be able to breathe again!) Taste buds and smell are also returning. Unfortunately, I'm finding that unlike most people, I really did like the taste of analogs. But I've been able to keep myself down to just one a day so far, which is far better than 20-30, so I'm happy. |

I'm into the 4 month mark now of no tobacco. While I had a lot of the common symptoms (dry skin, excessive thirst, mouth sores, bleeding gums, muscle cramps) I have also noticed that most of them have gone away. I also switched from high nicotine to medium. The only ones that have stuck around are the odorous urine & the lovely flatulence. The urine odor I can live with and I'm hoping the flatulence is because of the high fiber/low fat diet I have recently adopted. Can't speak about the night sweats as I'm a woman of a certain age so I'm getting them anyway Just a little hope to give some of you that yes, most of this should pass.

Well, I'm a new e-smoker...I am currently on day 6 without an analog. My energy levels are pretty low and from day 3-5, it felt as if my skeletal muscles hurt in the area behind my lungs...I guess it could be the back of my lungs...kind of a dull pain. I have had this sensation before when I quit cold turkey...smoking a cigarette always made it go away! (My brother is a pharmacist...he told me that if I am not getting as much nicotine as I was before then it can actually cause your muscles to ach...(Anyone else experienced this?) Anyway, today that pain is gone and I am starting to sleep much better than I have in a long time, I smell better and feel clean again! I clear my throat quite a bit but have no cough, no acne, no funny smelling urine, no sweats, no excessive gas and no sore throat. I assume this is because I have not been vaping long enough and my body hasn’t started clearing everything out yet...wish me luck!

I was only a smoker for a year but apparently it was enough to give me some symptoms. The worse was was extreme irritability (my poor wife and kids ). That went away after 3 days. I have been dehydrated, and really tired (this could be linked to dehydration or something else???). I have the smelly discolored urine. I also got sores in my mouth for 4 days, but they have since gone away. My energy has been a little less then normal (a lot less at first) but has been picking up, which is great. Anyway, it has been 6 days with no analogs, and the first day I only had 2. My "smoker's cough" has completely disappeared and I love not being smelly and feeling healthier. I'm sure as I learn to regulate my vaping habits and cut back I will notice some of the other negative symptoms disappearing. |

The only symptoms ive really had are muscle aches and my throat has been tight not sore but tight. No problems swallowing though lol. I was also hoping since I am a noob what is the diffrence between PG and VG?... |

PG = propylene glycol VG = vegetable glycerin (not necessarily made from vegetables, but the acronym is a nice match for PG) VG tastes a bit sweeter, produces more visible vapour and may be a good substitute if PG causes you irritation. The down sides are that it's very viscous which makes it messier to handle, it doesn't have as pronounced a throat hit (aka irritation ...) and not all people like the sweeter taste. Glycerin is also known as glycerol or glycerine; they're all the same thing.

Hi all, I'm a 30 year smoker about to become a vaper myself (just waiting for restocking so I can buy). I've read almost every post in this thread (as well as many other posts on the forum....and I'm still reading, so glad this board is here!) and thought this might help.... Common symptoms of nicotine withdrawal (in no particular order).... Headache Nausea Gas Constipation Cough Sore or Dry Throat Nasal congestion or postnasal drip Cold or flu-like symptoms (aka smoker’s flu) Sweating Insomnia Mental confusion Vagueness Dizziness and Invertigo Soreness of the tongue and/or gums Feeling tired all the time Increase in Appetite Insomnia Lack of concentration Night time awakenings Restlessness Tightness in chest Weight gain Tingling in the hands and feet Anxiety Irritability Frustration Anger & Mood Swings Depression Sounds to me as though most, if not all, in this thread may have actually been suffering from nicotine withdrawal rather then ill effects from vaping. Something to consider anyway. Just a thought. |
