After five weeks of e-cigs, the only thing I have noticed is that I'm a little thirstier than normal. I was actually hoping that I would develop that cough that I've heard about that is supposed to let you know you're lungs are clearing out, but it hasn't happened. I smoked more than a pack a day for 35+ years, I'm sure there's junk in my lungs. Should I worry that I'm not getting any of the other symptoms I've read about? When can I expect greater lung capacity, keener sense of smell and taste, more energy, or any of the other "good" side effects? |

| Just a possible thought: smoking is linked with poor circulation. If you have severely cut down or stopped the anologues, maybe your circulation is improving, making you feel warmer?

I hate to say this but could it be possible that you have damaged your lungs to the point of pre-COPD? I dont know anything about how long you smoked and how much you smoked but there is a fine line between quitting in time, before you cross the line into irreversable lung damage. I really hope that isnt the case, GOD forbid.... I smoked a pack and a 1/2 a day for over 25 years and had the awful cough, couldnt climb stairs or run for more than a few steps and I huffed and puffed trying to catch my breath. I also started using an asthma inhaler (sick I know) because my lungs were just crap. I went cold turkey off analogs the day my kit came on Aug 10th '09 and I waited for the batts to charge which, by the way was the longest 8 hours of my life LOL! Within a month everything was much better: no cough smell is back taste is back dont get out of breath (I dont excercise and i have about 40lbs extra to start with) The only problem I have is a mild rash on my face which are little pimples. It is slowly getting better but It has lasted forever it seems. And that side effect started about 3 weeks into vaping. My doctor said it is probably from not washing my hands after topping off a cart, which is impossible to do while navagating traffic LOL. I have been religiously washing and now the rash is getting much better. I hope things work out for you. Good Luck!! | |

I just started using ecigs yesterday. I noticed after my very first inhale that I had a slight head ache. After a while it kinda subsided but was still semi-present. Today when I woke up first thing I did was grab my e-cig and almost immediately after the head ache returned. I read through this form that it may be a sign nicotine withdrawl, however I only smoked about 5 traditional cigs a day and had even gone up to 24 hours with out smoking and havent experienced any type of persisting head aches. I was wondering if this was a sign of maybe too much nicotine at once. I dont know the exact mg as it does not state on cignots site or their invoice. It only states MLB HIG which I assume is a high dosage or if this could be a sign of a problem with my usage.

I've just started vaping since yesterday. I smoked half a pack a day for a year. It's probably too early to see the benefits. Yesterday I had dry mouth like you wouldn't believe. I kept drinking water and it just felt like I couldn't get enough. Eventually it went away. My lungs are also a tad sore - moreso than I've felt while smoking analogs. It's probably because it's only been a day into it. I haven't coughed yet today, though, so that's a good sign. I like not smelling like smoke, too. |

I do apologize for a double post however I was unable to find the option to edit my original. Another concern I have is that if it is and over dosage I still have the craving for a traditional cig. Id imagine that if I were to be in taking too much nicotine I wouldnt feel the need to smoke.

Heero and Restricted Access, welcome to the forum! I also got a headache on the first day, but I didn't have a problem after that, as I recall. I did occasionally experience some "soreness" in my lungs, which I can't explain. If anything, they should feel less irritated, right? This stuff we are vaping is not without chemicals though, so I think it is because we are taking in different chemicals that our lungs are not as accustomed to as what is in tobacco. There is always the possibility that you are using a liquid that isn't quite the right one for you. There are lots out there to choose from and there is a significant difference in the "recipes" and contents, so maybe you should try a different brand of liquid or lower nicotine one. (MLB HIG might be an abbreviation for "Marlboro High" meaning a Marlboro-like taste with high nicotine). I smoked cigarettes that were lights and ultra-lights, and when I vape a high nicotine liquid, I actually feel sick afterwards. Queasy, lightheaded and headache-y. I also still get cravings now and then for a "real" cigarette, I think it's because there are so many other things we attach to the smoking habit on a subconscious level besides just the act of just inhaling and exhaling smoke. (But I notice that if my e-cig isn't giving off a lot of vapor for whatever reason, I don't feel satisfaction from smoking it.) There is also something different about the weight of the e-cig and the way that we have to hold it versus the way we hold a regular cigarette and the other rituals we had when smoking a real cigarette. It's the closest thing I can find to actual cigarettes though, and for me it's worth some of the annoyances because gum or patches or cold turkey were never an option for me - I know myself too well to think that those are effective methods for me to quit cigarettes. I spent a full month reading about this and talking to people as well as "lurking" on this forum before I decided to buy an e-cig, so I guess what I'm saying is that from everything I've read and learned and researched about e-cigs, nothing either of you is experiencing is truly abnormal. Good luck to you both! |
