Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't androgens the cause of acne? This considered smoking would increase the likelihood of acne and quitting reduce it?

About 6 months ago I started smoking cigarattes again after a year or so of quitting. After a couple of months I started getting oily skin and mild acne. I gave up smoking analogs cold turkey again when I started vaping about a month ago and the oily skin has suddenly gone, I'm a little dry now if anything. I don't want to jinx myself but I thought this was interesting and likely related, perhaps not. I have been vaping very lightly on low/medium nice juice and, for the past couple of weeks vaping hardly at all on zero nic juice.

I just want to add this link to this thread, it's about going back to tobacco because of difficulty regulating nicotine dose - Had to put on the brakes.

I don't know much about this, but I have read that both over-abundance of estrogens and androgens can cause acne. I imagine that any rather sudden change in the levels of these hormones can cause acne flares. Most likely, it will settle once your body has gotten sed to the new status -or has learned to regulate it on its own. Hormones are terribly complicated, and I know very little about them, so do not hold me on any of this....

Debated whether to start a new thread with this, but to be cautious I'll post here.

So, a bit of personal info--I was on Ritalin through high school and sporadically through college for ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), the kind without the hyperactivity. I smoked a bit starting at the age of 19, and became a serious (10-20 per day, get nic fits without it) smoker around the time I went into graduate school. Haven't had Ritalin in years, and looking back, I think I have been self-medicating with nicotine for concentration. Anybody else in this situation?

So, I started e-smoking about 3 weeks ago, and have reduced my analog intake quite a bit, but I find that there is a definite difference between the burst of focus I feel with a late-night studying analog cigarette and the sort of blurry, unfocused buzz I get off of vaping. I've been zoning out at my desk and having trouble concentrating--exactly the opposite of the beneficial effects nicotine's supposed to have for concentration. I never quite got up to a pack a day, and have been vaping 11mg stuff--nonetheless, I think it's more nic than my body's used to.

I think I'm going to switch to 6mg. Hopefully I won't get all irritable.

    Anybody had similar experiences?

Why not get another script for Ritalin? Cheaper, healthier, more effective.

Eh, I'd have to track down my psychiatrist from middle school... ick. Plus, with the market here how it is, I'd be far too tempted to sell it.

Oh yeah. And how are you going to explain that to ER staffers who have never seen nor heard of an e-cig? When they don't know what you're ingesting or inhaling, they're not going to properly treat you.
I'm in the "no drama zone". Save it for the soaps.

Thanks Kate, I don't think that thread has any chance of getting lost, what with how many times you've posted it.

So, I'm not having horrible headaches or being rushed to the hospital--I just find it curious that vaping makes me feel relaxed and lethargic, rather than alert and focused.
