Shot thanx sun ... will do
I just finished reading ALL of this thread, Whew!
One thing I found missing in this thread of concerns for ingredients/symptoms is that E-Cig Newbies seem to smoke carts dry and we know that the Polyester fibers inside these will burn/melt (or perhaps leach chemicals when heated?). Yikes!
Could this be some of the problem with lung/sinus issues when we first start e-smoking?
So, my concern is: What are those cartridges made of? Nylon or Polyester is my guess (I collect antique/vintage/interesting new sewing buttons, and I know that a majority of the modern Synthetic Polymers which are molded into buttons are being imported from China). What is happening if the plastic cart or the poly batting is overheated by the atomizer? Chemical leaching? Have the plastics in the carts and poly batting been tested by anyone?
When topping off my carts I've noticed that threads of the polyester batting start to stick out further and further from the top even if I'm tapping them down with tweezers. Is this a concern and something we need to maintain as well by trimming or replacing batting more often? Are they melting/burning/leaching chemicals while I'm vaping? Is this something we are breathing?
I think it's my biggest concern about long term e-smoking since it incorporates these plastic products from China. I would rather the carts were metal (especially since they are reused/heated over and over) and wish they had a fine metal mesh screen to snap over the top to hold in the poly batting or that there was a better way to get the liquid to the atomizer (other than dripping - which I never do).
I hope Satire or someone with chemical experience will address the cart plastic/polyester chemical issue (if it's been talked about, will someone post the link to the forum area for me? The info. on the entire e-cig forum is FAB but overwhelming, as I've spent hours just reading this thread!).
Thanks!
H.A.H.
Hi Helen, welcome to the forum.
I hear you, that this place is kind of overwhelming... but this thread is actually meant to report (and when needed discuss) symptoms that you have, and for which you might be looking for some feedback.
Fears, such as yours, go into other threads (and believe me there are tons... indeed including a few dozen or so on the carts and wool/filling...).
What you could do is use search to find any of those threads, and add your post there (preferably in a thread about concerns about the carts/filling). That way this thread can remain for what it's meant for - and I certainly hope you don't mind my commenting here (but as you can see for yourself: it's hard enough allready to keep up with the information here even if it is added to the threads it belongs to)
A very short answer though: new users learn fast to keep that cartridge topped up good and moist (else they will have a bad taste as soon as they don't) - and a moist enough cartridge doesn't burn or melt, so isn't a problem - it's just something that has to be learnt real quick; a metal gauze across the cartridge-opening isn't possible, then it wouldn't wick so wouldn't work. Hope that answers it allready a little bit, don't want to get off topic further now if you don't mind![]()
Long thread, but to the original intent, I have had no side effects from e-cigs. The greatest benefit is that I stopped smoking analogs, so far.
In regard to my concerns over side affects from my new super mini and carts they shipped, I completely washed a few carts and the atomizer in alcohol and then distilled water and refilled the carts with my favorite e-liquid. The burning temple headache and dizziness went away. I refilled with medium level nicotine while these carts shipped with low level.
So, there is something suspect (to me) with the carts shipping with the mini-micro from Smart Fixx. I wrote them about my concern, but got no response. I recommend the e-liquid from e-smokey treats. No problems yet, other than he needs to get his inventory back up.
I haven't had any problems so far, but yesterday I got a stiff neck. Still can't decide if I slept weird or if it's from e-smoking. It's still stiff today and hurts a bit. Anyone else get a stiff neck from e-smoking?
It's probably from sleeping but I get a little paranoid with health issues. I always think what's changed. Anytime some new symptom occurs I get online (webmd) and end up scaring myself and thinking I have a serious condition. Followed by a doctors visit and finding out it was nothing.
Midnight Toker - drink lots of water. PG does produce lactic acid, which can cause sore achy muscles as well as muscle fatigue. When I get a massage they always tell me to drink lots of water to wash out the lactic acid.
And don't sleep on your neck wrong, it can ruin your whole day!
Sifanulla - the carts that came with my RN4072 gave me heartburn really bad. Once I figured that out, I threw the rest of them away and haven't had a problem since. But remember, a headache can be a side effect of too much nicotine intake. It can be a zillion other things too!
I have been monitoring myself for over a week since i've gotten my first e-cig w/ 24 mg JC with PG..
In the day time, I will tend to get a little more light headed when vaping, and at night, the light headed feeling goes away even when vaping a ton, But.. I start getting a punding headache.
Out of the 8 days since I've been vaping, I've had the above cases happen to me 3 out of the 8 days now.
Could it be the VG? Or maybe because I was chewing 4mg Nicorette (about 10 pieces a day) for a while before I switched to E-cigs..
Hmm.. if anyone has any similar observations, let me know!
I did some reading and found that neck pain is a side affect of using the nicotine inhaler. My pain has slightly decreased but not totally gone. Hopefully it will be soon.
