I'm so glad this thread is here....make it a sticky! I'm day one on the e-cig, and I was wondering why I'm running to the bathroom so much. I didn't think about withdraw. Ah!
I had started on low, but I don't think that's strong enough. Maybe I'll try the med. to see if that helps, or makes me run to the bathroom twice as fast.

I'll chime in with one that got me the other day. My sinuses and Eustachian tubes were completely bunged up and everything smelled of RY4, which became quite annoying after a while.

I think I've figured out what happened: the night before, I'd been vaping loads and exhaling through my nose to savour the flavour My hypothesis is that the PG dessicated my nasal system At any rate, I switched to mainly exhaling through my mouth and stopped letting the vapour linger so long, and the problem cleared up within a day.

    Default Symptoms of smoking e-cigarettes

    Interesting,

Just found this thread and I am amazed at all the symptoms people have had. Is there any one brand that seems to be causing the most symptoms, or is it equal across the board?

I only had dry tickle in throat for first couple days as I switched, but nothing else I can define, certainly not the running to the bathroom issue. I am just curious what would cause that. lol

    Success to all,

I had my first vaping experience yesterday.

I started the day with a migraine (not related to vaping, I get migraines frequently and had not vaped yet). Having read others experiences with headaches after vaping I was hesitant to start but being anxious to get started I decided to give it a go anyway, Interestingly, my migraine actually improved greatly after vaping.

On the bad side, my throat is on fire and I feel like I have a cold (symptoms others have also mentioned).

I'm wondering if perhaps my throat has actually been burned. When I first started I did not inhale, just took some puffs to try and get used to it. On my first inhale I felt heat hit my throat, and then the burning began. Is it possible that the heat from the atomizer might actually hit the throat and cause burns?

I'm taking a break from vaping for today but plan on trying again when I'm feeling better. I'm hoping what I'm experiencing will only be temporary, as some others have said it was for them. If not for the issues I'm experiencing today I believe I might just be done with the analogs already. With vaping yesterday I'd cut my analog use in half and may have cut it out completely had my throat not gone up in flames.

I'm really curious about the possible literal burning of the throat theory. Anyone have any thoughts?

Default Dry flaky complexion: here today, gone tomorrow (NOT!)

I've suffered with a dry complexion for the longest time. No amount of lotion or moisturizer would get rid of the flakes that would form all over my face for more than an hour or so.

That flaky condition stopped once I dropped analogs for e-cigs. The flakes returned, though, when I started vaping 36mg strength e-juice with polyester fiberfill material. I jumped to the conclusion that I was experiencing a negative reaction to the e-juice, but when I replaced the batting material with tea bags, my complexion improved immediately.

It seems that some combination of that particular strength e-juice and the batting material created the adverse affect to my body chemistry. In any event, tea bags works great...

...and I don't have to walk around looking like The Mummy anymore.

Just read this entire thread. Couple of quick comments:

    1. Of the hundreds of posters, only 2 or 3 people reported really, really nasty sounding symptoms. Seems to me this is perhaps a neutral figure given the occasional allergic reaction and/or contaminated product is bound to happen to some percentage of people. If this was a thread about eating apples or riding a bike you might find a similar mix....some small number will eat rotten apples and some will fall off their bike.

    2. Almost every symptom seems to me can be explained by one or all of: nicotine dosage issues, the effects of quitting tobacco and dehydration (the latter itself partly explained by the former two). This is relatively reassuring - my main fears about e-smoking are about contamination from the cart plastic or vapour laced with degrading metal or burning plastic etc. Strikes me that those things would basicaly poison lots of people pretty quickly, which either hasn't happened or has happened but symptoms don't appear until years hence. But the lack of signs of immediate symptoms like this is reassuring. I certainly didn't read anything that sounds like heavy metal poisoning.

    ......

5 days in. Two minor symptoms myself:

    1. Tightening in chest and a wheeziness are starting. Again, very consistent with going from 20 cigs a day for 20 years to zero cigs overnight.

    2. Mild heartburn/stomach cramp. Certainly feels like a nicotine issue as I seem to remember similar heartburny-nausea symptoms on traditional NRTs I'd tried like gum or the inhaler.

I should say I am in a massively biased mood at the moment because I so want this to continue. I still cannot believe I've only had 2 cigarettes in 5 days, none the last 3 days. A miracle.

    Default One Week Vapor

Just passed the one-week point with E-cigs last Sat. The only symptom so far that I've noticed is a slight headache with the energee liquid. None of the other flavors seem to bother me.

Plus I am probably vaping way too much. I have to remind myself to put it down from time to time. I've already killed 1 atomizer.

    I like it too much!

I cannot say if I haven't been feeling well due to e smoking or if it was something I ate. I've been vaping for about 2 weeks. Over the past few days, I cannot get to sleep (I'm up til nearly 4am and wake back up around 6am). My stomach is in knots come night time. I've had on and off headaches that make me miserable and last a long time, nothing seems to get rid of them. I'm pretty tired and tense in my shoulders/neck. I used to use the Low nicotine juices. However, 4 days ago I opened up a different flavour that was Medium nicotine. Maybe this is just too much for me. I'm going to lay off vaping and smoking til I can figure out how to make my own 0 nicotine juices.

Nothing in my life is different than it was a month ago... well, I had a birthday, but that's not stressful. Might be the economy, lack of work, having to renew the lease and the rent went up again, sneaking up in my subconscious. I don't know. I'll sit out this no vaping period and see if I feel better.... maybe it was just too much nicotine for me.
