I'm goign back to regular smoking
i know this is a really long, and perhaps, old thread. but it's close to what i am going through, and i relate to this post!

since i quit smoking, i have developed the worlds WORST cold! i was in the emergancy the other night with an ear ache so bad i thought i needed surgery to remove the "nail" that was jabbing me. had to have a needle to kill the pain.

i can't vape. it hurts my throat so much!!! so i puff away at it a bit, not inhaling, just letting the vapor float around my face.

it isn't that i am tempted to go back to smoking, it's that i wonder why i ever quit!!!! the nurse said that quite a few people do get sick after they quit, as the body is getting back to the way it was before it was a smoker. it can take 2 to 3 months to get back to "normal." AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHhh!!!!

so yes, headaches, sleepiness, muscle aches, strange food cravings, and mouth sores. i don't know how much my sex drive has changed, as i have been too sick and my partner can't come near me for fear that he would get this.

i miss vaping, and hope my damn throat starts to get better.

If you are using PG, you might try VG.

I'm still hoping to bump into someone else who is experiencing severe constipation as a side effect of not smoking anymore... If your suggestion of 2 - 3 months until things return to normal is accurate, than I am in for a sad few months...

Its seems from what I have read across the boards that most probs are due to PG.
Thats why I chose to go with vg right from the start. I want the transition from smoke to vape to be as smooth as possible.

I have actually total quick smoking once for 4 months and never had any physical side affects from it other than wanting to bite every ones head off constantly!

I've been vaping since January. I got the flu and it took nearly 5 weeks to go away. If I was still smoking, I'd probably be in the hospital with pneumonia.

Vaping bothered my sore throat too. Imagine how much worse a cigarette would be.....it's the cold causing the problem, not the vaping!

    Hope you're better soon!

mlady, you sound like me, about 4 months ago...it was the worst!
It just happened though that I had developed a severe aversion to Propylene Glycol, so went directly and quickly to Vegetable Glycerin as a base for my juices.
Instantly relieved! Well, a couple days.. but I had such a severe sore throat, awful hacking cough, lung pain, tight chest, the whole bit. Within two days after my VG arrived I was fine.
If I have just one cart of PG the whole thing starts immediately again. May be just coincidence, and if you have a doctor handy or a handy doctor go by what they tell you. But a normal cold wouldn't last more than 5 days at that intensity, so maybe switch juice just to try it. I hope you feel better soon.
Do drink more WATER!!! PG and VG are drying to mucous tissues, you must keep hydrated better. Anyone having problems with constipation, that means you too!! Dry up like popcorn farts, as they say. None of us drink enough water. I don't mean juice, coffee, soda, etc...plain H2O

thats exactly what i was thinking when i was at the emerg! this could have been pneumonia . i know a fellow smoker who was sick for many months and he was forced to quit as smoking just made him sicker.

he's a ....., cuz he started right back up again when he got over the illness.

but i do miss vaping. even with the vg now, i can't tolerate it...

but from reading here, i see that there is light at the end of the tunnel and my PV will be used again ... it's just a matter of time...

So far after five days of vaping this is my only complaint. It is a scary one as this heartburn the pain in intense and right in the middle of my chest. If you push on the area the pain intensified.

Feel better now after the Antacids.
As someone who suffers from acid reflux, that's no picnic.
Just remember, pepcid and the like will do little-to-nothing for current heartburn conditions. Simple antacids like tums, rolaids, or pepto bismol are all your best bets.
Personally, I like tums the best for acute attacks because they have the most sodium carbonate- an alkali that reacts with the acid and stops the pain.
Similarly, you can also take a tablespoon of baking soda and stir it into a glass of room temperature water and gulp it down for an even quicker/more complete effect (this does taste pretty bad, but it's super-effective).

Water alone is a temporary solution at best, and milk will make it feel better for a short time, only to return worse than ever.

I'm just hoping my dailies keep me from getting this particular side effect too regularly
