Anecdotal 'evidence' will not get anybody anywhere. That's what the militant anti-smoking hawks are waiting for - if it's not themselves spreading those rumours.
I suppose we all remember those cases where a product is carcinogenic for a number of years and then suddenly is declared to be harmless. Lord, a miracle?

Anyway, as for the fog machines and more anecdotes; as a session musician I've been touring myself quite a bit in the 80s. Some of the bands I played with also used those glycol based machines and there was in fact one isolated case where a roadie had massive health issues as described. However, after a series of checkups it turned out that it was a case of an extreme allergic reaction. I remember that bloke was allergic to a lot of things, not only the fog.

Secondly, there were always some "hobby chemists" in the band who had fun modding the hell out of those machines for "maximum effect". This could go from using anti-freeze to some really obscure chemicals I wouldn't even hold my nose over.

Under normal circumstances, touring bands and their staff are exposed to more health hazards from the Diesel fumes of their lorries.

<End of my anecdote. Any more takers?>

well i certainly am not meaning to offend anyone! all i am saying is that
i feel maybe we should be looking at an alternative to both pg/vg that is
obviously safe rather than wondering how safe our liquids are, that way the fda or any of the other bodies involved in trying to ban the ecig wouldnt have an argument would they! its allright saying wheres the proof they are not safe My argument is if pg or vg liquids are 100 percent safe wheres the proof that they are.

It s impossible to prove 100% safety.... it doesn't exist in life with anything, so if that's what you are looking for, you'd better buy your plastic bubble now LOL.

However, I have read all of the tests/reports etc that I have managed to find regarding PG / VG and I am satisfied sufficiently to continue vaping away.

EVERYTHING causes adverse reactions in sufficient quantities, so just remember when reading reports to check the LEVEL of the sustance that causes such reactions and remember that we are only talking about a couple of ml a day whilst vaping (like those people who were concerned that adding alcohol to their DIY mixes would cause them to be over the limit to drive until people pointed out that with 10% alcohol in a mix, they would likely still be getting less than half a ml a day of alcohol!)

    Default symptoms?

I just started vaping Saturday and have not completely given up analogs yet. I am down to 2-3 a day from about 20-30 a day. I have been experiencing a dry cough which started the first day on my ecig and generally occurs after/with vaping. This seems to be getting a little better tho. I have also noticed that my throat seems dry and while drinking water does help I am wondering how long this will last.

There is also a peppery aftertaste similar to the taste from chewing Nicorette gum. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I got my eliquid from Heaven Gifts and so far I am not in love with their product. Of the 4 flavors I purchased the only one I like is the menthol, which I ordered in the xtra high nic level (wish i had of read more about the levels before i ordered). I have since ordered my eliquid from Nhaler and am anxiously awaiting my package

I have also experienced several sneezing episodes. Is this a sign of an allergy to PG or will this go away too?

Despite these few side effects I am loving my new toy. So much cleaner than smoking. I was a die hard smoker and i cant believe how easy the switch has been.

I'm new to vaping so i'm glad I found this thread. Clears up a lot of issues I've been having.
Smoked analogs (but cut down severely) till I got nic levels just right for me and now I haven't touched one in about a week. I have a headache that is lasting a few days and a mild acne breakout.
I noticed when I mixed my first batch of juice that I was getting a sever sore throat. I cut down the amount of VG I was using, increased the PG and that took care of it.

Thanks everyone for all the info

I carry cough drops with eucalyptus & vitamin C around for when I over vape (only time I get a dry or sore throat).

With the drops, I don't get the sore throat at all. When I had a heavy day smoking, I paid that night and for a couple of days after. Vaping is sooo much better.
Besides eucalyptus & vitamin C is good for me.

I have a question. I received low nicotine reduced PG juice from JC yesterday and after using it for a day, I have what appears and feels like chemical burns on my tongue. My tongue is extremely raw and sore. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have a bottle of 11mg reduced PG juice from them (French Vanilla) and I really don't like it much. It doesn't hurt my tongue, but it kind of leaves an icky stale taste in my mouth (I think it coats my tongue). I don't have that problem with their regular PG juice, though.

How long have you been vaping? I don't think it's uncommon to experience a funky/burned/dry/sore tongue issue in the first week or so of vaping, so it could just be that. I've been at this a little over 2 weeks now and I'd say I've got an area in the center/rear of my tongue that stills gets a bit burn-ish feeling by the day's end. It's minor, though.
Smoke-free since Oct '09 thanks to ecigs!

The first week or so I had laryngitis. Other than that I still get a strange feeling in my throat when I lay down at night that makes me want to cough. I just keep swallowing spit because if I cough it gets worse. It usually takes about 10 to 15 minutes to go away. I have been vaping for 5 months but still smoked a few 'fags' a day. I have been smoke free for 21 days now so I'm not sure what is causing this? Hate to admit it but if I had any analogs on hand I would probably light up. It's a head thing, right?

Please contact JC about this. This shouldn't happen and they should know about it.

    Thanks!
