Was looking around and thought it was odd that many of the flavorings are made with PG as a base, so I guess those who think they are using 100% VG may not be..

Hey guys! Awesome posts! I'm still a newbie. Been vaping less than a week but your posts have helped put some fears to rest. I'm a bit of a psychologist, so when things start to happen to me I tend to explore why. My throat started killing me today so I was a bit discouraged. Then I realized that since vaping I've upped my coffee intake, which will dehydrate you BIG time! Such dehydration can be part of the throat soreness and also lead to achy muscles and muscle cramps. (I spent the day on a ladder doing some painting and it really wore me out and I sure didn't feel very stable up there!) So think about your coffee intake and see if you've upped it if you have any of those. I'm a giant coffee fan, so I definitely am NOT saying give up or cut down on coffee. But DO increase your water intake a bit and see if that helps.
Also check out the thread about sore throats. There's lots of great info there. I've been using a PG liquid and just ordered some VG to see if that helps with the throat thing. But also, the thread said to be sure to keep your atty wet. Being a newbie, I didn't know this. I've been keeping the carts well filled, but never thought about the atty. So I dropped a couple drops directly on the atty of my 510, took a hit, and it was immediately better. Maybe that's one reason we all get throat burn right off. We just don't have all the tech stuff down yet.
Also, in the throat thread they said to try gargling with some mouthwash once in a while. I did. It helped.
Finally, I noticed that I just pull different on the ecig than on an analogue. It's almost like I pull with my throat clenched. It may be from using a reeeeaaaallllly poor ecig that produced NO vapor before getting my 510 last week. But once I realized that I was pulling differently and started making sure to drop my shoulders, relax and open my throat it immediately helped.
Hope maybe this helps someone and keep the posts coming! Knowing I'm not the only one experiencing these things keeps me from hopping in the car to go get a pack and stink sticks!
I struggled with acne as a teen so I fully expected the breakouts i've read about but I sometimes get theese sore, itchy bumps on my head. Are theese zits?
Never had pimples on my head before![]()
Oh soooo lovely![]()
OK, I confess I did not make it through this entire thread as it is late. I am wondering if the common symptoms associated with changing to PV's dissipate with time? I have been vaping for about three weeks now. I am well into my 40's and the acne seems to be getting worse. But what concerns me more is the urine changes. Not only does it smell but it is very cloudy. I smoked Marlboro Reds for about 35 years. The first three days of vaping I had one analog each day, I have not had another since. I do have several other health issues. In June of 09 I had my 7th and 8th serious spine surgeries since 2004 so I am not sure if my symptoms are due to vaping or not. Since vaping I am exhausted all the time, but rarely ever sleepy. I take prescription sleeping pills at night but I would estimate that I have had maybe 8 hours of sleep in the last five days. I would love to hear that others have had and overcome these symptoms since changing to vaping.
Cheerss
Trekie, I've noticed that I'm always tired as well since the switch, but haven't found a cure other than lots of sweet tea.
My issue is the pimple thing. My forehead is completely covered in them. Prior to beginning vaping on 11/29, I can't remember any more than an occasional one day pimple in the past fifteen years. Salicytic (sp) acid hasn't helped. Anyone have any other tips to cut the pimple problem?
Trekie,
I think acne is about the only negative effect that I've avoided with vaping.
I am thrilled to be off analogs after 57 years of endless smoking. [began at 13, and I'm 70] and I pray that I'll never cave and go back.
However, I have developed serious insomnia, taking double the suggested sleeping pills [my doc would crap if I tell him] and still tossing and turning for hours, often to 3 or 4 am. I get up totally exhausted.
My blood pressure has risen to frightening levels [at times 167+/] and my mouth is so dried out in the morning, that my gums hurt. I toss and turn and drink water 2-3 times a night because my gums and throat are so dry and painful.
I am switching to low nic VG juice [trying to order it now] trying to find some mouthwash moisturizer, and vow to spend more time on the treadmill [ugh] to get some sleep. I will also vap less, but really don't know how to measure it.
Like you, I welcome any suggestions.

I had these symptoms. It could be dehydration. Many of my symptoms matched the signs of dehydration posted at symptomsofdehydration website (I can't post links yet)
Many thanks, Deena. I have not changed much in my diet, but do drink a lot of coffee [on my list to reduce] and my standard 10 oz of wine at night.
Heart doc says two drinks are okay [1 drink wine = 5 oz, 2 drinks = 10]
However, I do admit to drinking perhaps double that. No excuse, but I hardly drank at all for over 15 years. Like, zero.
But doc okayed 10 oz with my high blood pressure, but I also realize alcohol contributes to dehydration. However, when one is desparate for sleep, and the max pills have been doubled, one will try wine--or anything.
Insomnia can really mess you up...
I will try to find that site.
edit: adding Deena's site about dehydration--worth reading
