Default 4 Weeks - This normal ?

Smoked for 14 Yrs, no real cigs for 4 weeks, Janty Stick with 18mg Pg Juice, and I have a pretty regular amount of crud being hacked up daily. Mostly in the morning, best at night. Coming more from my throat than lungs, and sometimes I am constantly clearing throat. I'm nervous that it is the ecig, since the color of phlegm seems to be darker with a Johnson Creek Tenn Cured juice than with say a RY4 style juice.

Am I screwed ?

This is totally normal when you quit smoking. Don't worry, you're fine! Its just your lungs clearing out the garbage.

As far as it being more in your throat, i've had the same thing happen to me too. Your lungs aren't all that's been coated by smoking; your throat needs to clean itself too. That's what mucus is for: lubrication and cleaning.

Sorry, there is no elegant way to put this: What color is the crud you cough up? Is it dark yellow or brown? That would be tar. If its more greenish then you have a respiratory infection, totally unrelated. If it changes color with different colored juices, that's just the color being stained when you inhale it; i don't think that's anything to worry about.

If you are really concerned, you should go to your doctor and get a check-up, just to be sure. But i doubt its the vaping.

Like i said, don't worry. You're fine

Ok, cool, thanks. The color changing, yes shades of brown, was kind of freaking me out. Any idea the normal time frame for when this starts to subside ?

Hi Johnny, in 4 weeks your lungs should be cleared of the crud of smoking. Phlegm becomes colored by anything you eat, drink, or inhale. Coughing after drinking Barq's Cream Soda can scare the crap out of you since it will look blood filled. The constant clearing of the throat with or with out coughing and producing phlegm is an indicator of an allergy of some sort or a mere seasonal acclimation process. An over the counter allergy medicine may help in sorting out these symptoms and can be purchased inexpensively. Ask the pharmicist which would work best with your symptoms and try a few tabs. It can't hurt right?

I find it odd that so many people are experiencing things like this. I don't know if I am lucky or just not as sensitive as others but this has not caused me one bit of distress or health issues at all, not counting nearly blinding my dumb ass by wiping my eyes after mixing some nic juice once on accident...that's a mistake you make only once let me tell you. It was much like macing myself directly in the eye, that's the best way I can relate it.

I smoked for nearly 50 yrs. and was smoking 35-40 analogs a day up until a month ago. I still haven't quit them completely, but now down to around 10/day. The first 2 weeks I was still coughing up phlem in the mornings, then added Nhaler lung recovery juice for a couple hours before bedtime and coughed up lots more gunk. All through this my lungs kept feeling more open and the wheeze went away. Three years ago, I was diagnosed with early stage COPD but still couldn't quit smoking. I recently got a new Dr and one of things to do was an up to date chest xray. I got that last week and yesterday the Dr's office called. The xray was completely clear. I can not believe that with just 1 month of vaping (and still smoking some) that the "uncureable" COPD no longer shows up in my lungs. I'm certainly going to talk about this when others ask me about vaping, and I'm looking forward to my Dr. visit next week to see her reaction.

Imagine smoking 10 analogs in a row. Your throat and chest would be very irritated. Sometimes vaping heavily will irritate the throat. No discharge; just a constant irritation.

I coughed up brown gunk for 5 months, so don't be alarmed. I just hit 9 months yesterday and it is clear now!
